Comment ex ccleaner user (Score 1) 41

at my previous job i bundled ccleaner with all our business machines. with time i figured that it was nothing more than placebo. i wanted a modern "regclean" (see if you can remember that one) as it basically deletes unreferenced registry keys

sure it has some other tools built in but nothing you can't do with the OS tools already.

if you have ever used procmon you would see a shit ton of registry keys being accessed. i truly don't understand how it doesn't slow down the OS to a crawl. i see having a central repository useful (for things that are general to the OS) but specific app keys should be a plain old .ini file in the app folder

not in every industry.

i work in customer support. having to drive 90 minutes a day, get interrupted by coworkers, or having to disregard their noise while working with customers is detriment to my productivity.

i can work much better from job and stay happier, and my employer knows.

the first people to go during a recession should not be remote workers: it should be whoever is the least productive. if that's the same in their companies then great. i am not worrying just yet
