Sorry it happened to you. But shit happens and a mistake vs negligence and a lack of cautiousness is different. I ask very dumb questions and get chuckles ALWAYS when I change a linked GPO on an OU but they always know that is the SOP. Sccm needs testing, reviews, and run on a vm or test OU first. You need 100% certainty on everything and 90% sure is 10% too much!

You are stunningly misinformed. In fact the percent of Americans who are public employees is the smallest it has been since 1968.

It makes you wonder where people get these ideas and why they feel so free to spout off without knowing anything. We have google, where is the disconnect coming from?

Fox news, Sean Hanity, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, a million Facebook posts about evil socialists taking jobs and voting Tea Party is the way out etc. Fox news is number one rated and tens of millions listen to right wing radio. California is not very employer friendly and has strict over time laws not to mention outrageously high taxes and rents.

It does not make business sense to start there.

Detroit, Austin, Kansas City, and even Fargo have universities, other tech companies. I dream of starting a business but I do not have 1 million dollars a year to pay for a tiny crappy office in San Fransisco. If I did get shareholders I am sure they do not appreciate all their savings going to pay rent rather than for product development. Not to mention your employers could leave in a hearts notice with Google and Apple offering 6 figures on the fly.

I know I sound conservative right now but when you start out no OT, taxes, friendly business laws, can mean you make it or die at the end of the year.

yes it is true I am a democrat even if I am really pissed off right now over this.

We do have an advantage as geeks right now? It is an election year :-)

If we write to our politicians regardless of party in my other link and their script writters see +900 emails during an election year it will certainly get their attention and rethink what the snake oil lobbyist who said we are protecting innovation since we never had net neutrality so lets not rock the boat etc. I know you feel it does not help but large amounts of angry constituents is something no politician wants months before an election. In 2003 we had a bill that would require DRM to be used by all operating systems and hardware! Remember? Slashdotters emailed and it worked as senators said WHOA What the hell is this?! etc.

If we say LIBERALS ARE THE CAUSE then we debate with each other and meanwhile politicians do not hear what we have to say. Divide and conquer worked well with the Romans and survivor if you are watching the latest round? I believe that is a political ploy that I do not want to fall into a trap of.

There is no need to reboot windows servers all the time either... but let's be honest I'd rather just have some helpdesk flunky reboot it when they call me at a restaurant, in the shower, or at the grocery store than try to explain which services to restart and possibly how to restart them.

Besides looking for reasons to oppose systemd with rationalization like well we do not reboot often, why don't you look into the benefits and why it is replacing init?

SystemD is event based which adds A TON more flexibility than what you can do with init. Also event driver async http software like ngix is multitudes faster than Apache and more flexible based on scenarios. The system can respond to events and if you have a laptop can sleep in one network and wake up in another.

Another problem with init is what designed in 1984 (SysV implementation) where you had maybe 50 programs and shell commands at the most. Things were simple then. Gnome requires how many dependencies? It just is a mess to deal with on a modern system where an event driven and async model would be more appropriate.
