German Wikileaks Domain Suspended Without Warning 215

mb writes to mention that Germany has gone one step further in impeding access to Wikileaks. Germany's registration authority, DENIC, recently suspended Wikileaks.de without notice. "The action comes two weeks after the house of the German WikiLeaks domain sponsor, Theodor Reppe, was searched by German authorities. Police documentation shows that the March 24, 2009 raid was triggered by WikiLeaks' publication of Australia's proposed secret internet censorship list. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) told Australian journalists that they did not request the intervention of the German government."

It was already done: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldier_(film)

It was written by David Peoples, who co-wrote the script for Blade Runner. By his own admission, he considers Soldier to be a "sidequel"/spiritual successor to Blade Runner.[1] It also obliquely references various elements of stories written by Philip K. Dick (who wrote the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, on which Blade Runner is based), or film adaptations thereof.

Submission + - Brief History of Podcasting

Gammu writes: Podcasting can trace its history back to 1996, but only really emerged in 2004. The concept of metadata was first applied to HTML by Apple and the concept was refined at Netscape. Netscape's metadata standard (RDF) was eventually adapted to syndicate content on major websites like My Netscape and David Winer's Scripting News. A little noticed feature in the RDF standard, containers, allowed website owners 'push' music files to subscribers. After a proof of concept post by David, Podcasting took off in a big way.

Submission + - Will cell phones need DST patching?

An anonymous reader writes: With the impending daylight savings time shift on March 11th, are cel phone carriers and manufactureres providing updates for their devices? Palm and RIM have both released updates for their devices, but what about J2ME based phones? Pretty much every phone on the market includes J2ME, as well as limited calendaring functions. Is there anyway to update these? Will carriers "push" out necessary updates? or are consumers stuck scouring the web for this type of information?
