Submission + - Drip Irrigation for Dummies?

tdp252 writes: The South-East United States has been experiencing a multi-year drought that has forced many local governments to tighten water restrictions, forcing home owners to stop watering outdoors. Many people are having great difficulty establishing new plants outdoors or just keeping what they have alive. Yesterday I saw a "Drip Irrigation for Dummies" kit in the local Home-Depot. What experiences do Slashdotters have on drip irrigation systems for the notice? Are there any that are better than others? How difficult are they to setup and maintain vs. a traditional sprinkler system? Should I just embrace the inevitable and plant cacti?
