Comment Carmageddon (Score 2, Interesting) 1120

I would love to see a modern-engined Carmageddon reboot. Sure, the 3rd one(TDR) was horrible, focusing on the missions. The reason for that is that even the developers realized there wasn't much to this game. The enemy cars often got damaged and just randomly veered around. There was no sense of urgency except to kill peds to keep your timer from running out. Ergo, missions were put in(some I could not solve even with cheats).

It was just fun to drive around & do stunts, mixed in with car combat & running peds down. Veered into sandbox-style games. It was a zen game. Let's see this redone with a modern game engine, perhaps with destructible environments and such.

Probably nobody else is going to agree with me, but I had to mix it up a bit.

If you have software updates every 5-6 days in the name of "security patches", you probably should hire better developers. I remember some stupid HP updater utility that got tacked on some printer drivers needed an update in the name of security. I decided to one-up the software by removing it entirely, thus preventing any future security issues with that product.

I go and reinstall windows on my dad's machine. I use an nLited burnt CD I made(HP made CD) and it won't even boot. Tried a linux recovery CD(same maker of CD), would not boot. Somehow, out of the 6 tries I was able to get the XP install CD to boot. It did. Failed about halfway, asking for the file "ASMS", which didn't exist(but a folder did).

So, bad Cd? I fire up a virtual machine, and install XP in the machine and it works flawlessly.

I go back to my dad's machine & eventually try my legit store-bought XP install CD, and it continued to install. I burn a CD of my dad's backed up data(again, an HP cd), and it reads just fine on my machine I burned it from, won't read at all on my dad's system.

Wow, I'm lucky.

Agreed. I'm sick of these articles saying that the almighty iPhone is going to make this/that dedicated device obsolete. Here's the big catch: the cellular subscription you have to pay EACH MONTH. Not everyone has unlimited funds for such toys, whether it's monthly or a 1-time cost. The one thing the iPhone isn't going to render obsolete: $40/month in your wallet.

Heck, I would be happy with the Saint's flip-open keyboard Nokia phone from 13 years ago. To me that's still slick.
