Comment Reputable (Score 1) 230

Normally, I would shrug this off as yet another start-up from Silly Valley trying to get funding. But Toyota is a company with a good reputation as being conservative in their development and honest in their proclamations. I believe they can and will do this, and if the world can serve the demand for electricity by building more nuclear power plants, this will be the true threshold of widepsread adoption of electric vehicles.I'd short Tesla if I played that market.

Comment Burger King did this (Score 4, Funny) 98

In the late '80s, a Burger King was built in my town. Upon my first entry, I was delighted to see a shelf full of books, and after getting my meal, sat down near it and tried to grab a book (I think it was "The Brothers Karamazov") only to find that I couldn't, and the whole thing was a dummy - a prop. I was upset, and then worried what else there was false. I then doubted the royalty of the supposed king, and if what I was eating was really beef. Comment What success! (Score 1) 299

I am happy to see so many responses to the article, a great number trumpeting out the same tied old objections. The sheer amount of anger from the Dark Matter types, who have so much invested in their theories, gives me much hope that this will actually succeed! The proof, it is said, is in the putting (pudding), so if this actually functions, even if at less than optimal performance, then it will get much more attention and further development .This type of real-world application, ex-Earth, is what many have clamored for, for years now.

How anyone care to run a book on this? Vegas types, willing to take bets on success or failure? Depending on the gaming setup, I might be in! It would be interested to see some of you DM skeptics bet against me,

Submission + - Propellantless drive for satellites to be tested

drwho writes: A new type of propulsion system which uses no propellant, but rather only electricity, is to be tested in a satellite to be launched from June tenth's Falcon 9 launch. The IVO Quantum Drive utilizes an alternative theory of inertia known as 'Quantum Inertia', by its originator Prof. Mike McCullough of U. Plymouth, which seeks to reconcile General Relativity with Quantum Field Theory. If successful, this would herald in a new era not only in satellite technology but in space travel as a whole.
