I also wanted to add that I think the way that our modern education system works has a lot to do with parents seeking a diagnosis for little Bobby "who just can't sit still".

I used to work in the environmental education field for quite a few years. I can say that I loved to have kids with "ADHD" in my group, because they were the ones turning over rocks and logs and activity searching for things. What is seen as a detriment in one setting, seemed to be an advantage in another setting.

An interesting thing to note is often how I would find out about their conditions. Since I did do some work at overnight facilities, I would sometimes would be told ahead of time medications and conditions a child had. But most of the time, I found out about it by a teacher saying something like: You know, so-and-so has a ADD/ADHD and he is just doing SO well out here.

I remember going through my driver education and classroom instructor saying that speed limit signs posted above intersections and on exit ramps are just recommended speeds, not actual speed limits. I tend to find that I am usually a good 10-15 miles per hour faster than the recommended. Apparently, the enforceable speed limit on exit ramps/bends is the same as the road.

The point is that Disney used the public domain (as you cited) to help create an empire, but lobbies to keep its creation from going back into public domain. This could be argued to having the same effect as stealing.

And you're probably never going to with that attitude. Saying you can't see the big picture of climate change is a bit like going to the himalayas and saying "I don't see them moving". In reality, they are geologically active and are getting bigger all the time, albeit millimeters in a year. Geology and climate are measured over time, sometimes vast amounts of time.

You need a grocery store to be able to buy anything to cook. I live in Cincinnati, OH and the poor places around me usually don't even have a grocery store. There are usually half a dozen fast food restaurants and usually a couple of gas stations/convenient stores. Good luck finding a vegetable there. Sometimes you can find apples or bananas sold individually though. I have lived in a couple of poor areas that have a proper grocery store with a produce section, but the selection and quality are suspect. With the food industry subsidies, it is actually cheaper to buy more processed foods and they keep longer.

Could be ignorance, but my money is on these so called food deserts. The real question is: How and which came first, the ignorance or the food deserts?

I saw part of a Robert Kiyosake (Rich Dad, Poor Dad) program (infomerical?) on PBS one day. He apparently had a woman come up to him and say that she was trained academically in writing and was perplexed at how she, being a good writer, was unable to achieve monetary and sales success. She then pointed out that she didn't think he was a very good writer.

He responded by telling her that he went to school for sales and not writing. He then told her to look at his book and it how it says "Best selling writer and not best writing writer".

I don't know...kind of seems relevant here in that well written fill in the blank has little to do with monetary failure or success

Disclaimer: I have never read one of Kiyosake's books, so I don't know if he mentions this in one of them or not, but I thought it was a pretty insightful.

Generally, no they can't. There have been some laws in some states that are trying to make this possible, but as encountered resistance. In the US, most people use a driver's license as their ID as opposed to a passport. You don't need to be a citizen, or even here legally, to get a driver's license in many states.
