For me it was when you dropped your punch card deck, it would be scrambled.
That's why I always punched sequence numbers in col 73-80. If the deck is dropped, a few minutes in the card sorter and the problem is fixed.

Indeed. The government built some nice houses for the Navajos on the reservation and they lived in them for a bit but then moved back out to their hogans (pronounced ho-gones) because that is where they were most comfortable. The left the houses open and sheep/dogs/etc. wandered in and out.

More likely because of the spikes on track shoes that give runners a lot more traction, which is especially useful when accelerating at the start.
And in high school while running track, I found out the hard way that spikes are also great at increasing your deceleration.
