I remember this same bullshit was spouted about Gore and Bush in 2000. The Simpsons famously mocked them as clone aliens.
Kang and Kodos actually mocked Clinton and Gore for the 1996 election, not Gore and Bush for the 2000 election.
Now that there is awareness that such technology exists, how long before we see clones or even forks elsewhere? There is likely going to be a Streisand effect?
If I remember rightly, when DVDs were a thing, the Australian government allowed region unlocking of DVD players, mainly because content holders weren’t making their content available in the country. Maybe there is a similar attitude in Finland, for equivalent reasons?
I used to use Plex until they made an internet connection mandatory, even for your own library. As soon as you have an internet outage (local network still works), then you are forced to go back to something less sophisticated like SMB and VLC.
> heic/heif/avif files are already better on every metric and this new standard is WORSE than Google’s current WebP standard.
They may be better technically, but they still require a license fee to use. As much as Google annoys me with pushing standards , at least they push royalty free compression technologies.
There is both an ISO standard and a recognised list of glasses, based on the following video:
Happy I saw this before buying, so I didn’t end up being too cheap and paying the price with my eyes.
I did test mine out and you’d assume they weren’t letting anything through, until you look at the sun.
Same here. It was funny to see someone set their green bin out at the street next to all the huge bins.
Does anyone know if the Apple M4 can be designed in such a way that private cryptographic keys can no longer be stolen via side channel timing attacks?
Lawyer: Sir, madam, is there any reason you didnâ(TM)t use WhatsApp ?
Jo: Uh, because I wanted my Apple goodies
Lawyer: so why are using suing Apple?
Jo: because my friends arenâ(TM)t using Apple and moneyâ¦
Apple can be accused of many things, but for the failure of Windows Phone and Amazon Fire Phone? This just sounds like the DOJ is desperate to accuse Apple of something, because in reality Microsoft and Amazon, were responsible for the failure of their devices. This is much the same way RIM/Blackberry was responsible for its own demise, for having not adapted to the new landscape.
Until the iPhone came along Microsoft was barely doing enough to evolve the Windows Mobile platform and then was late to provide anything significant. It wasn't help by the fact that many third-party developers were already focusing their energies on iPhone and Android, both of which has a larger user base.
As to the Amazon Fire Phone, I don't know much about it, but if its anything like their tablets, then I suspect it was a low-effort entry market device, that was likely made irrelevant by Samsung, Huawei and a collection of other Chinese phone brands?
With all problems at the border, in public education, debt and so on they chose to take on porn sites? Why?
Blaming someone else and using the "think of the children line", has worked previously in deflecting from the real issues.
The main one I can think of was the third-party clients. Were there other points of note?
