species as stupid as we are.
Maybe when they come to earth looking for food they'll leave us alone because we wallow in our own poo.
That's easy. They don't care about laws that are intended to protect people from "legitimate" marketers. When you don't worry about the law you can literally do and say whatever you want.
New news:
Bank robbers withdraw more money from banks than they have in their accounts!
How long do you think you'll keep your pass phrase secret when one of the government sanctioned torturers tightens the screws on your thumbs?
You can't protect your data from the government any more than all the gun "enthusiasts" in the US can protect themselves from the government with their guns. The government ALWAYS has ways and means beyond what any individual or even any group can muster.
At this point, considering the inability of congress to get anything done, maybe all those people who believe the scientists about AGW have come to the conclusion that it's too late to do anything about it and have given up. Or maybe they realize that changing their personal lifestyle is nothing compared to the size of the problem.
I lived in Phoenix for a while. Golf courses everywhere. No water anywhere. Billboards reminding me to use less water everywhere. The message I got was that I should feel guilty about every drop of water I used so a bunch of rich a-holes who spend their winters in Phoenix could have more water to dump onto their golf courses. AGW is a lot like that.
The change has to start with the most visible and egregious offenders. Then people will see that there's something going on that they should be concerned about and will modify life style en masse. The only way to deal with the most visible and egregious offenders is via the law. Unfortunately, those offenders have money and use it to keep congress in a perpetual state of suspended animation, because it is through their offense that they make their money.
I don't understand what's "creepy" about any of it.
You want creepy? Seat belts are CREEPY- they touch one of your boobs! Eeeeeeeewwwwwww!
Their "teeths" fall out because of multiple factors. They don't take care of them, they tend to drink a lot of soda and eat a lot of candy bars instead of eating actual food. They are often subjected to violence that results in traumatic damage to teeth. Other than trauma, the damage occurs over a period of months to years and they can see what is happening in a mirror as it happens, but the attraction of the drug is so powerful they can't stop. I occasionally see them and extract some or all of their teeth. Their visit is usually precipitated by pain or by an attempt at rehabilitation.
The handling of deadly disease agents should be privatized and put into the hands of industry as soon as possible! Let the free market solve the problem!
"A one-second delay can still seem like an eternity for a quantum computing machine capable of running calculations in mere millionths of a second."
Millionths!?!
Um, last time I looked, most microcontroller chips could make calculations in "mere millionths of a second".
I think Amazon's drones are going to stay close to the ground. Limited battery capacity means flights have to be short, especially carrying 5lb payloads. It seems more likely that a truck will pull into a neighborhood, open the doors and release a bunch of drones to drop packages for that neighborhood. They will then return to the truck and be driven to the next neighborhood where the process will be repeated.
Unless they come up with nuclear power, that's going to be the limit of their use.
The problem is that a 5 lb payload traveling at 50mph can do a lot of damage if it hits something, to say nothing of the damage the whirling blades could do. A 5 lb package dropped from 1000' would certainly kill someone.
These drones won't be used in rural areas because of the distance between delivery locations. They won't be very practical in urban areas because of the density of people and other things that could get damaged. They are best suited to suburban neighborhoods where potential delivery sites are close, but not too close, and power lines, etc., are minimal.
I don't think Amazon is overly concerned about people shooting at delivery drones. I'm sure they'd lose a few to gun "enthusiasts", and those stories will certainly make headline news because the press is stupid and gives gun "enthusiasts" publicity anytime they demand it by doing something stupid with a gun, but there are existing laws that cover shooting guns in populated areas and after a few get arrested, others may be discouraged from engaging in unsafe behavior.
I'd be more concerned about the size of their fingers and the condition of their nails more than their gender.
I suggest that everyone who has to go through the scanner reach down into their pants and stick their finger into their butt hole just before they have to point their finger at the detector.
Why doesn't someone just modify the snippet of code in the OS that displays the touch keys on the phone/tablet screen to place them in a new random order each time you unlock the device so that when you enter the PIN to unlock the device you never use the same finger placement pattern twice? That would also prevent analysis of scratches/smudges on the surface of the device as a means of cracking it.
I know, I know, users would probably complain.
China. That doesn't mean iPhone manufacture will get moved to the US. THAT would require investment, and investment requires thinking about the future, far beyond the next quarterly statement. US business doesn't engage in anything that goes beyond the next quarterly statement. No, not even Apple.
What I know is what I hear them saying on the news every day. If you think my knowledge is wrong, tell your party leadership to quit saying the things they keep saying in front of cameras.
