Comment Re:AM radio is nothing in terms of volts. (Score 1) 317

AM radios add maybe $1 to the cost of a vehicle, and they don't need a long antennae, contrary to what someone else said (well, I've never needed one). The real reason for this push, in my mind, has to be lefties trying to kill talk radio, which they've been salivating at for decades

This is conspiracy territory and not founded by any reality.

In some way, yes. It's a periodic process where T Corona Borealis pulls gas from a nearby star until there is enough to restart nuclear fusion, then it burns for some month through the gas and stops again. This is different from an Ia supernova, during which a neutron star captures enough gas from a nearby star to collapse into a black hole.

Since at least five years, all laptops I use are upgrade from lower specs. My parents use a 2011 Macbook Pro, upgraded with SSD and 32 GByte RAM. My wife uses a 2014 Dell Latitude, with RAM, SSD and even the display upgraded to the max.

So yes, there are people who upgrade their laptops. But we might be a tiny minority. And given the way we use our laptops, we will run into problems in 2034, when ten year old laptops can't be upgraded anymore. At the time, I am close to retiring age. So right now, I don't care. Maybe in 2030, upgradable computers are all the rage again, and in 2034, I'll pick up a four year old device and upgrade it to my likings.

As this would amout to cutting people off from their ability to make phone calls, and the people aren't at fault in this case, this will not happen. And no, leaving emergency numbers available is not sufficient, because people might have to call their relatives, their lawyers, their physicians or other. non-emergency-numbered contacts.
