Linux already owns the desktop, or at least most everyones world while on it.

Nearly every major application that people depend on when they start their machine and open that browser are powered by linux. For the majority of the world windows is nothing more than a host for a browser, just as it should be.
Do you have experience with Virus scanning programs such as Symantec, etc?
I have spent a ton of time writing PowerShell scripts, it is a complete piece of trash. It has nothing at all over the power of the unix tool set.
If you are doing it right it does not matter what you pick, at the end of the day these are nothing more than environments in which to run virtualized instances. If you have a good deployment model then the environment in which it runs means little.
I know at least in my shop we could potentially switch from one to the other nearly overnight.
I know what he is getting at, I could tell him in far more detail than this how the boot sequence works. Primarily this is because I have written a boot loader from scratch in assembler just because I wanted to know how it was done.
It is also a dangerous tactic as my resume and work history clearly explains I know my shit. I generally view these sorts of interrogation questions in a negative way.
Actually no I want him to stick with Windows we don't want any competition over in this side of the house.
Yes windows administration is hard, very hard mainly due to the fact that you cannot automate shit with it.
Linux is too hard, stick with Windows administration.
Honestly though you need to know both the system and I don't mean using a Desktop no enterprise environment loads one. In addition you had better be able to program, you can be a admin without being a programmer but you cannot be a great one. Linux / Unix greatest strength is in the ability to automate the hell out of everything. If you cannot program you cannot maximize the use of the platform.
I just had some dental work done a few days ago, I had no dental insurance. I was able to negotiate a killer price for a cash deal. The office was extremely happy to provide me with deep discounts they said billing is generally a majority of the overhead. My actual cost was probably barely more than any deductable I would have paid.
Sorry but I don't see why the taxpayer should have to foot the bill for birth control pills. So now everyone should pay because someone irresponsible wants to bump uglies? No if you want to bump uglies foot your own damn bill.
Both are equally prepared to run the country.
Yes this cloud stuff i would completely ignore, nobody would ever use virtualization, it is just a fad.
For myself and many others there is only two things that count, the economy and jobs.
No it is exactly the logic that all govt organizations use.
Cost, most of us are fully capable of writing bullet proof however the costs usually out weigh the benefits. Now if you have a 2 billion dollar budget and only one shot at it why yes the engineering and code will be rather robust.
