My Vista install was for 3 months and was SP 1 after they had a chance to fix things. My Win 7 install has been for 6 months and was better than Vista straight away. It is also better than XP by a mile, and plays Fallout 3, which Ubuntu doesn't. So, at least for me, my preference for Windows 7 is based on real reasons.

I lot of young teenagers can't afford 8 copies of a game (close to $800) just to have an afternoon's entertainment together. Having one guy own it still being able to play with his friends at home when they come to visit is a much better idea. The way Warcraft 2 and Starcraft allowed 'spawn' copies to join a Lan game without a CD so long as one or two players had the CD was a great idea. 2 purchases meant 8 players could play lan, much more affordable. Maybe we'll just have to go play monopoly instead...

In the UK all contracts must be negotiable in order to be legally valid. I don't know about the US but it basically means that both parties must have an opportunity to edit the contract and must then both agree to it.

Most EULAs are text files that can be freely edited. Sometimes you have to use Universal Extractor to unpack the installer before you can edit it. Then simply use Notepad to change it as you see fit, run the installer and agree to it. If the software accepts your modified contract, all is well.
