I own a Parks 20X80 giant binocular and a decent tripod. Versatile and portable, easy to set up and use. From my suburban location I can see the planets as a disc not a speck, craters and lunar maria on our moon and Saturn's rings. It's easy to track objects by hand. When I drive to dark sky areas in the local mountains or go over the hill to the desert the Orion nebula and Andromeda galaxy are just brilliant. I use the Parks for terrestrial viewing and can watch hikers on a popular mountain trail six miles distant. .

We're being hurt by the profit over anything else business model . Yeah, I have huge bills for TV and net, a land line and two cells. I used to have a antenna on my house to receive free TV and my RV has one so I can get local news and weather while on the road. Net access is not a luxury but a necessity. There were problems with TV and Net service. A tech arrives after 2-3 days and as soon as we talk to him it's obvious that the guy is not well trained or smart. He had a cutting and crimping tool and was going to replace the ends on the runs to my house. I said no. He makes a call and the second guy arrives with the same lack of ability. While talking to them I ask my son to call again to tell Cox WTF we're dealing with. My son is one of those tech wizard big brain guys and found some program to analyze our connection. The phone answer people have no idea what he is telling them. So, a third Cox tech arrives and he knows we were being treated poorly, sees how much packet loss there was, etc., gave us a new modem and said there will be no charge. Service has been good since then but my bill is close to USD $190 per month.

I had season tickets years ago. Our seats were in the nosebleed section and the cost was pretty high. Or sit in the cheap seats to watch a losing team for $50.00 or $75.00.Think end zone. Parking is $25.00. Food and beverages? Comment Sleeping for four hours (Score 1) 106

I had an unusual work schedule and began sleeping for no more than four hours at a time. The effects where bad.. My sister is a nurse and worked PM's and nights and we talked about the toll it took on us. When she told people that she worked nights their reply was "Oh. so you just sleep during the day". The lack of a normal day/night schedule is really bad. The flight crews train for this but you can't erase your body clock. If you haven't done it you will never know what it's like. Imagine having a sunrise and sunset every 90 minutes.

It wasn't me who didn't do anything but management who covered up any problems. I told my manager about my concern of several containers of a weak acid stored in a cabinet in the lab. Years old and in paper cartons, one could see they were deteriorating..She took them and poured the contents into the the sedimentation basin. That means she put the chemical into a PUBLIC DRINKING WATER SUPPLY. A contractor was using a buffer solution in some analyzers and put the not empty containers in a dumpster at the plant. They leaked into a drain in the compound that didn't go to a sewer but drained to a canyon just outside the fence. I told the plant manager about it and nothing was done. A co-worker reported some serious problems to the Office of Drinking Water, the regulator, and he moved to another job that was a hour plus drive away because of retaliation by mgmt. Art sold his house and moved and that was a real stress for his family. His wife found a new job and young kids were going to a new school.. Years later he told me it was a good thing overall having better pay, newer house, and a company that treated the employees well. I "made" as I like to say or treated seven to one hundred and sixty million gallons of drinking water per day. So, no to your comment.

I saw things at my workplace that endangered the public's health and could have harmed employees but I couldn't speak out because I would be the one to be fired. A drinking water plant with twenty tons of liquid chlorine on-site, three to five thousand gallon tanks of ammonia and ferric chloride and a mtnce staff that kind of sat around until something broke. Any problems were kept secret, rarely reported to the State. I was exposed to chlorine gas and ran to the locker room and took a shower. Nothing said or done.
