This is a good point. Aircraft don't have to worry much about water, snow, or ice splashing onto their windshields!
I'm guessing you don't often have to type passwords on tablets, or you wouldn't be suggesting very long ones as the solution. I have enough trouble getting short ones entered correctly on those on-screen keyboards. I don't think I'm alone, either, judging by the typos I find in texts and emails people send to me.
It might help Google avoid anti-trust lawsuits from the Justice department.

The big tech companies want to appear to be unwilling to cooperate with spying. But what's to keep them from secretly cooperating all the same?
Whether government openness happens because of a leaker, or it happens because of fear of leakers, or because it believes it's the right thing to do...the more open the government is about its activities, the better.
And Facebook operated for 6 years on $500 million.
Twitter operated for 5 years on $360 million.

Facebook, foursquare, and just plain old texting, all impact people's safety because of their improper use, mainly by drivers. Are we going to go after texting app developers when people get hurt while using such software?
It all depends on the specific programmer. Some are good a design, some are good at coding, some are good at testing, some are good at debugging, and so on. Rarely is a single person good at everything. Everyone has they own unique strengths and weaknesses.
Devices running iOS sell at a premium, to people who don't mind paying more for goods they consider superior. Of course people with extra money will be able to buy more advertised products! People who are more cost-conscious will tend to gravitate to Android, and will also likely be more wary of advertising.
