It's funny. The US calls all their sports the 'world series' and shit. They only involve the US!!! HOW IS THAT THE WORLD??? The world cup soccer involves folks from all continents (even little Australia is in it again!) and world cup rugby most continents. These are sports with competitors from around the World not just all around the United States of America "world".

Solution, go to canon website download .debs in a tar. Install and done.

I am actually too lazy to try DVB cards or wireless cards, but I have found the DVB cards work out of the box on Linux usually. My wireless card has given me problems but there are open source drivers which can be easily downloaded and compiled.

Case in point though. I have a USB webcam where the windows drivers have been lost, it works out of the box on ubuntu, you can not find the drivers anywhere for Windows though!

Even the comments below the linked article give a better summation of the current understanding than the article itself or the terrible summary. Start with an open mind, do your own research on the possibility of anthropogenic caused climate change, then give your background references and build your case. Don't just drop in with a single, poor quality article.

Read about global warming and climate change and look at current research, for example from my neck of the woods: the ACECRC work.

If you want you can ignore the science and believe whatever. But like your religion, I would prefer it if you kept it to yourself.

are a couple of dead giveaways. I know a guy at school (Pattie) who always checks folks laptops for recent documents. Very funny sometimes!
So my advice is to a) use a browser with 'incognito' or similar mode for 'privacy'.
Of course there is always having multiple user accounts! Ubuntu has a 'guest' account by default I understand. I usually have a "user" account on my laptop, no privelages, default browser etc.

Students, the Other Unprotected Lab Animals 236

theodp writes "Slate reports on the horrible — and preventable — death of a young UCLA biochemist in a t-butyl lithium incident, which led a Chemical Health and Safety columnist to the disheartening conclusion that most academic laboratories are unsafe venues for work or study. It's estimated that accidents and injuries occur hundreds of times more frequently in academic labs than in industrial ones. Why? For one thing, Slate says, occupational safety and health laws that protect workers in hazardous jobs apply only to employees, not to undergrads, grad students, or research fellows who receive stipends from outside funders."
