Even though part of what you said is obvious hyperbole, I do agree that we've long since passed the time where we needed to start cracking down on this sort of thing. At the moment it's nearly a free for all. You contact the authorities and they almost laugh. Either they don't feel that you've been taken for enough money or they just don't think pursuing it is worth their time. Can we stop the drug war for a few minutes and focus on this instead? I'd rather see 100 identity thieves in jail than 100 teenagers that like to smoke pot - it's not my problem if they smoke themselves stupid.

I've had a similar experience. When I decided I wanted to make myself a small home file server I just took an old 3GHz P4 and put it into a new case with a big hard drive cage. Add a SATA card and a couple terabyte drives and I've got a nice Gigabit NAS setup with a much faster processor / RAM than anything you're going to get in a consumer level NAS. Best of all, I only had to spend money on the hard drives and the SATA card. Everything was already laying around.

My experience was similar. It was very comprehensive and nothing was left out. Abstinence was encouraged but it was by no means the only thing that was taught. I've always been baffled by this talk of abstinence only teaching. I suppose that's just because I've never even known anyone that had it. Can anyone attest to the fact that this is even being done or is this all just FUD?

They also fall into the "quick fix" category. Everything has to be fixed immediately and nothing can ever actually be anyone's fault. If you're on drugs you're getting fixed quickly and your depression isn't your fault, you've just got a chemical imbalance.

I feel the same way about parents dragging their kids off to be diagnosed with ADD. Try pulling them away from the TV and the pure sugar juice box and making them run around outside a bit. It's easier to focus when you're not constantly on a sugar high and looking for a way to burn some energy. I feel sorry for those kids... once you get categorized with that kinda of crap teachers practically act like you're special ed. Some of my friends really got screwed by that.

I keep hearing this... who doesn't have sex ed? I had freaking tons of sex ed when I was in middle school / high school (late 90's). Anyone that got preggo at my school was just plain stupid... either that or too lazy to show up to the one class that they apparently really needed.

Even better in the event of a zombie apocalypse! Just make sure you've got a zombie plan. You can't just assume that you'll be able to keep them out. If one gets in, you've got to be ready.

Or he bought it used (like I did) and didn't see a sticker, had no manual to read, and assumed that it wasn't a huge piece of crap and that you could actually move it like you can all other disc reading devices these days.
