You can run the A/C for 100+ hours on a 75KWh battery. There is really no such thing as idling in an EV. Running the A/C in the Model 3 for an hour will use up just over 4.5km of range. Out of a 500km range battery, that's not much. And if you're near a supercharger, you can get another 200-300km of range in 20 minutes.

A New Class of Nuclear Reactors 560

prunedude tips this quote from a post at Freakonomics about Japan's nuclear crisis: "The folks over at IV Insights, the blog associated with Nathan Myhrvold's Intellectual Ventures, point out that it was the complete loss of power that disabled the cooling systems protecting the plant's reactors. Which raises the question: Is there nuclear technology that could withstand such a catastrophe? Possibly. TerraPower, an Intellectual Ventures spin-off that also boasts Bill Gates as an investor, is working on a new reactor design called a traveling wave reactor that uses fast reactor technology, rather than the light water technology used at the Fukushima Daiichi plant. The two biggest advantages of the fast reactor design is that it requires no spent fuel pools and uses cooling systems that require no power to function, meaning the loss of power from the tsunami might not have crippled a fast reactor plant so severely."

So you are saying that driving instructors are also just as irresponsible as they are taking out 16 year olds who have never driven before? Endangering the other drivers! Some of those cars they use don't even have a brake on the instructor's side, let alone a steering wheel. So much more irresponsible compared to Google's car it seems.

To be infected you have to go into settings and approve non-market installation, browse to a Chinese site, download their market installer, install it, find the Steamy Windows app, say okay to the permission window where it says it can send text messages that may cost you money, and then open it? I'd say Android is still pretty safe.

You should look into sending your phone back in for warranty or something. But if the manual states it should be rebooted, they may not consider it a flaw. :( My phone has an uptime of about 4 months now. No issues at all. Stock Android. It's the Motorola hardware and software that is horrible.

The software they used was had a log of the traffic data. They did not know about it, they didn't plan to collect it. And the moment they found out about it they told everyone. If they had just silently deleted it no one would have known. But Google felt it was best to be open about their mistake.
