This is what the government-run schools are supposed to eliminate: Ignorance. But instead they ended-up glorified babysitting zones.
In a more ideal world, the government should the be convicted of fraud and told to keep their hands out of educating our youth.

Yeah, you obviously do not know much about the history of radio, let alone amateur radio, here in the U.S.
And, despite the waste of space in your head, where brains should be, during a major catastrophe (power down for days, weeks, etc.) POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) and HAM radio would be the only working sources for emergency communications, which might save even your sorry ass, that is, if you would ever pull your head out of it.

It is more and more apparent, that President Obama and his Administration, with his "Hope and Change" machinations are really "More of the Same, and Much Much Worse!" (TM)
With a little bit more of an expanded view, however, it is really Democrats and Republicans that are "More of the Same, and Much Much Worse!"
Both of the two major parties need a severe wake-up call, namely, less and less of them should be voted into office to the point where it starts messing with their power base, campaign financing and the like. That's really the only thing that will get their attention and start governing "...for the people..." and not "... for the multi-national corporations that give me nice fat campaign donation checks".

What's that? Oh, you would have voiced something along the lines of "Bush and his administration are abusing their authority *and* proposing things that are un-constitutional. He and Cheney should be prosecuted!" Or something to that effect.
As I have said before, we are just getting more of the same (some much for "Hope and Change" huh?) and much, much worse.
Or, a message that prints on the OLED screen that says:
"Due to demands on the power grid, I will not be able to dry your clothes for another 9.37 hours. Sorry for the inconvenience. The Smart Grid."
Or...
"The power grid load is high now, therefore, I will not be able to play the 'Beatles Anthology: CD1' right now. Sorry for the inconvenience. The Smart Grid."

In all my math classes in high school, 1975-1980, you could use calculators in class. However, on tests, you *had* to show your work or you were not given credit for a correct answer. Oh, and you couldn't use them during tests anyway. As a result, other than one individual, the rest of us never brought or used calculators in class because when it came to test time, we were all practiced on showing our work.
What if scenario:
What if the homework assignments are *required* to be turned in only in the form that can be utilized/read/handled by the school's computers?
What happens then?
