My daughter got an SMS from the Airline just minutes before landing that her luggage was not on the plane. They knew the luggage was not on the plane before take-off but they don't want the passenger to know that yet, otherwise they might ask or harrass aircrew during the flight.

you bet they do. Amazon runs it's own delivery in Germany and Austria. the drivers are "independent contractors" but hundreds of those drivers every day line up and pick up their 100-150 packets at the dicate of Amazon. Amazon at this scale can deliver very cheaply.

you have a "wealth redistribution scheme" in the USA that moves wealth from the poor to the stupendously rich and it is called "lobbying" and "congress". Your country should welcome ANY EFFORT that heals those at the bottom. Please read Charles Dickon's own biography about his father being in jail, and why he wrote "Olier Twist". This is 150 years ago, and the penny still hasn't dropped for most people!.

Comment Re:"orbit the Earth's polar regions" (Score 5, Informative) 63

Most Starlinks are launched from Florida towards the North East, where they are placed in orbits inclined at 53 degrees to the Equator. This covers all of the world between the Artic and Antartic Circles. To be able to provide coverage to the Poles (above 60 degrees) they launch some Starlinks from Vandenburg, California SOUTH. This puts these satellites in polar orbits at 97.7 degrees to the Equator.
The 53 degree starlinks travel over populated countries and talk with ground stations in the supported countries. The polar satellites use lasers to communicate with 53 degree satellites that have laser and ground station connectivity. In this way the Poles get internet access.
Look at this website to see all the 53 degree satellites and the fewer 97.7 degree polar satellites. Rotate the map to the poles and you will see the 90 degree orbits. https://heavens-above.com/Star...
There are even some Starlinks on 70 degree orbits which cover as far north as Alaska and as far south as the Antarctic Coast.

It makes sense that this App needs to work offline. But surely they could have put a checksum into the JSON that was created with a private key by the NSW Department of Transport. The app then has the public key and can ensure that the checksum was created by the private key. This would work offline. And that second APP would only need to scan the QR Code. That QR Code contains all enough of the data from the license that the second app can display the license number, date and a verification that the checksum was created on the server by the Dept of Transport.

Twitter is a public forum. What is said is said. Yes you can edit it and correct it, but anyone should be able to see your history of edits - you need to be held accountable for that which you do in public. Imagine a political leader telling his followers offline - Look at my tweet at 2pm, and then he deletes the incitement at 2:01 pm. He can deny he said it, and that it is fake news that the opposition claimed he incited his followers.
