Even better... 1. Relentlessly delete crap. No point in keeping five versions of the same photo around. No point in keeping bad photos around (blurry, overexposed, etc). No point in keeping photos you'll never want to see again. This gets rid of at least 90% of photos right away. 2. Print what you keep. 3. Store prints into an acid-free binder or box. 4. Store said binder/box where best protected. 5. Look at as needed and reminisce about the great experience you had.

To add to this, throw them in acid free binders if you feel the need and get a fire-proof storage compartment. My parents have a fire-proof closet for all their old black and white photos for just-in-case scenarios. The tactile experience of looking through old pictures in binders in one of the best experiences ever if you ask me. Another plus, when you have to look through photos to print them out, you quickly realize how many photos were neat when you took them but not so much now. Pushing you to possible shear down the amount of data you really have to keep.

Seriously, I hear a lot about web use and Facebook but what about other things. Do those with high usage use the auto-upload for Skydrive? Is "find my phone" turned on, and if so is it set to periodic or all the time? What about "feedback," is it on or off, and is it set to be allowed to use your cellular data plan? These are all options on the phone, and they are options that could quickly rack up usage if forgotten about. My WP7 phone has quickly become my camera of choice for point and click exactly because it auto-uploads to Skydrive. I was not amazed at all when I had used 1 gigabyte of data with my new WP7 phone the first month I had it.

When I hop on XBL on my WP7 phone many times it is because I am on my way home and want to see who is playing games. I don't want to call every friend I have to see if they are on, and I don't want to waste money on text messages. I want to see who is there and ask them quickly if they want to play a game when I get home. At that point it is easier to just use the Xbox messaging system.

Online is essential and every company except MS (not including their pc games) gives you that for free.

And too bad their competitions' networks suck. I won't compare the Xbox to a PC, not on /. or anywhere. But owning all three consoles this generation and seeing what their networks have to offer, I would gladly pay for XBLive than deal with PSN or Nintendo Wifi-Connect any day. If you can't pay for Live, don't get an Xbox. Simple as that. I make my $60 a year back with the "Deal of the Week" anyways. I may have to pay the money to get the deals but I would buy the games anyways, so it is a win/win situation to me.

Because it isn't always the university paying for it. I attended the University of Arkansas, and it was well known that the Razorback Foundation, Inc. (a separate business entity) payed for the vast majority of the sports programs (buildings, scholarships, coaches salaries) not the university proper. I can bet you there is a similar case at SEC and Pac-10 universities.

I am amazed that it isn't mentioned as part of the product. Hell, you can even get voices messages on Xbox Live Extras. Goes to show while Sony's online service may be free they still don't understand basic needs of users.

Japanese Game Developers Go West 84

donniebaseball23 writes "More and more Japanese game studios and publishers are looking toward the West. But as the industry becomes more global, is this really such a bad thing? From the article: 'Gameplay is an art that transcends borders, and it simply makes good business sense to keep your eyes open for opportunities no matter where they present themselves, as Zenimax, EA and THQ clearly have. Far from ruining the Japanese gaming industry, it may in fact save some of the best Japanese developers from considering retirement or a career change. They'll be able to make games on their own terms with their own original IP, and shouldn't it ultimately be about these creative types being able to realize their visions?""

It's good to know that AT&T is at least trying. I've avoided cancelling my service with them due to the fees and the fact I still have an unlimited data plan. On the flip side, you can probably count me as part of the problem too. My HTC Pure is currently running Dutty's ROM just so I can have an easier time using it as a wireless router for my netbook when out of the house.

I always seem to chuckle a bit when I hear or read this. Games may be expensive, but they are no where near the prices I remember paying for a lot of games I bought back when the SNES was new. $80 for Final Fantasy 3, $70 for Secret of Mana, heck I think I paid $60 for Killer Instinct. Game prices may be expenses on the 360 and PS3 compared to the prices of last generation games, but they are not as bad as they used to be.
