A 128th is an insignificant figure to be honest. That would never be a practical addition. However, knowing you need about another 16th of an inch on top of the 8th you already have isn't all that bad. I'm not saying I exclusively use fractions, I'm just saying they have their place.

I used to think metric was pretty much amazing. I still do. However, since my employment at a machine shop dealing primarily in US units, I've learned to really love our measurements. Although most everything is done in decimal (Thousandths of an inch), a lot of parts are designed with fractional measurements in mind. It's not that bad to work with to be honest and is certainly easy to communicate about. The difficult thing is when a company requests metric parts. All of our machines run on our units, so everything has to be converted. That's not so much a problem as tolerances on error - we still have to use metric tolerances. If someone isn't paying close attention, 0.341 plus or minus 1mm can be misinterpreted easily.

Sorry to sound dumb, but... lol wut?

Call me crazy, but where the hell are you computing from? My computer has an ethernet cable and a power cable. Both are required for proper function and within inches of each other. Maybe you're thinking wireless, in which case...

Where the hell is your wireless router/switch/AP? Cause mine has ethernet and power, both of which are required. Any chance you could clarify on the lack of power in your house? Haha. =]

I was introduced to linux in July of 2000. Red Hat, I believe it was. I was quite the little boy at the age of 9, playing with dual booting with ME. I despised ME. Athlon 600 with 128MB of RAM, 3dFX Voodoo3 32MB AGP, Western Digital 20GB. AND it had a 2X CD recorder.

That was quite the upgrade from Windows 98. Pentium 200 with MMX overclocked to 233. 64MB RAM. Also a Voodoo3, but this one was PCI. 32X CD ROM, ~3GB HD. ISA Sound Blaster and 3COM network adapter.

Now is the 3.1GHz Phenom. 4GB RAM. 9800GT 512MB. X-Fi. DVD-R. I really do take it for granted.

Oh, it works all right. The rest of us called this 'Hibernate' and moved on with their lives. I'm not impressed by this 'Phantom OS' one bit. I call BS on just about the whole thing also. I know they're trying really hard to be smart and all... but really? Let's not reinvent the wheel.

Disregarding the world's current overall economy, what is your justification for this statement? They have no national debt, and that's more than many states on the globe can say.

As such, when my stepfather ordered his 04 Mach 1, He looked through the system, found a yellow one, then found one without Cali emissions. We've been happy since.

No... I don't think they were really blaming Linux. If anything, I'd say they were praising it for having the functionality to be modified to fit their needs. They admitted that the previous configuration they had wasn't ideal, and they fixed it. I think the important part here is that they used Linux to fix it, they continue to use Linux, they documented the fix, and now they are giving back to the OSS community with information on how they did it.

Submission + - CliffyB interview

Cranboy writes: "360Zine has an interview with CliffyB, lead designer of Gears of War, in which he talks a bit about what he might like to see in Gears of War 2. From the interview: "We haven't announced any sort of plans for a Gears sequel yet. If we were to start building one I'd imagine it would be bigger and badder than the original. (I wonder what other kinds of weapon combinations we could do besides a chainsaw bayonet... hmmm...)"

The interview talks about how the game came about and why telling friend from foe is so difficult, plus his thoughts on camping and more. The Gamerzines are in PDF format (require Windows and Adobe Reader 6 or above) and are free to download."
