The banks were told by the Clinton admin/dems of the 90's essentially the following: "It is every americans RIGHT to own a home, so you are going to give them loans even if they cant pay them back or we will make your 'lives' a living hell until you fucking give in."
This entire mess is a result of Clinton's economic policies, because contrary to the popular belief that clinton's presidency brought massive economic growth and prosperity, the simple fact is that presidential policies lag 4-10 years after being implemented. He was merely riding on the success of Reagan/Bush Sr's economic policies and nothing more.

On the internet speed/access issue:
If you weren't a fucking retard you wouldn't have brought it up. All of the countries that top the US in access/speed aren't nearly the size of the US, and as such their population density is much greater. It's easy as fuck to build a Fiber network if almost your entire population lives within extremely high density areas, but not a single one of those countries would be capable of maintaining the same level of network access/speed if they had to deal with the sprawling communities like the US does. Any belief to the contrary is utopian dreaming and nothing more than naivete.

Who cares if it is efficient, when all it is is the government saying 'we know how to save your money better than you do so give it to us now.' It's money that I worked hard to earn, and if I chose to invest it (assuming I was allowed to opt out/keep it) I would be able to make way more than the government will give to me when I qualify to start receiving SS benefits. And even if I couldn't, it's money that *I* earned, and the government has no place telling me they can better spend my money for me.

I personally like my dad's friends point of view with his son, who is like 4 or 5 years old. "If you're gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough." One instance of this is we were all underneath my car while looking at the exhaust (he had a barn with a 5 foot drop off behind it that he setup 2 tracks for a car to back out over for work under the car) and the kid reaches up and touches the exhaust efore anyone can say anything and he yanks his hand back and says "ow thats hot" to which my dad's friend says "Damn right its hot, bet you wont be doing that again will you?" and the kid shook his head quite hard while saying no way. In my opinion, kids today are too babied and just not ready for the real world.

Too bad the economic boom that occurred during clinton's presidency occurred entirely due to Reagan and Bush Sr's economic policies. Anyone who has an ounce of knowledge to economic matters understands that presidential policies affect an economy 4-10 years down the road, and Bill Clinton and the Dems in the 90s are the direct cause of this economic meltdown. Shit, if not for Bush's tax cuts in 2002, we'd have been suffering even worse a few years ago than we are now.

The reason teh economy is in such a mess right now is because of Bill Clinton and other democrats during his presidency pushing for bullshit such as 'every family has a RIGHT to own a home, and you banks better loan them moniez for it, and we dont give a fuck if they cant pay it back, otherwise we will rape you into oblivion with regulations and the like.' Clinton's presidency saw such economic growth as a direct result of Reagan and Bush Sr's economic policies.
