Comment Re: This is why encryption isn't popular (Score 1) 399

OK, I guess I am due for another round of PC mail software review. I used Thunderbird in the distant past, but at the time I did not have as many accounts and I had a Blackberry which integrated very well with Outlook, so I eventually went back to Outlook for the integration. But to be honest, I have not found anything that would give me the same level of integration (mail, contacts, calendar) under Android, so I am still kinda looking.

The prevalence of web mail services is what prompted me to pretty much abandon Outlook and distinct web pages for each account (and the whole PC for that matter) and I now predominantly use my phone or tablet for email, unless I have a lot of writing to do.

I use K-9 on my Android phone and tablet, and in one client, I have my eight email accounts and more flexibility than I could imagine having on the PC, without the barrage of ads that most webmail clients send you on the PC.

The only way for me to return to the PC would be to have a K-9 like client for the PC.

Comment Lure me to facebook with video ads? (Score 1) 120

I fail to understand how video ads would lure me to facebook.

Video ads have done a good job of luring me away from broadcast and cable television (except for premium, ad-free channels)

I have flashblock installed on all my browsers and am very happy with it.

What is the attraction of video ads for the user?

Well I do not believe this prediction. If the court had meant for the record companies to stop, they would have awarded attorney's fees this time around.

What that judgement tells me is that the courts are still in the record company's pockets, even when they are wrong, which they are more often than not. They could not say the law was not what it is, but they did the next best thing by killing Veoh another way.

This can happen as many time as needed, lather, rince and continue.

I am concerned about the privacy issues as well, but I am also concerned about availability. Google is well known for dropping services at whim, and I am concerned about some service that has become essential to me being dropped.

I would prefer to pay for these services to not only have privacy of my data, but also if it could provide some assurance that the service will not be dropped overnight.
