I just had a great idea, you guys. "Virtual Monitors".

Ok, ok, hear me out.

Through software your computer will generate virtual monitors which can be used to contain an application in a little box on your screen. You can then have several applications open at the same time on the same screen simply by arranging those boxes so that you can see them all. This is especially easy since monitors are larger than ever now.

I am going to be seriously rich. Maybe I will buy some new windows.

I did not say that they were conflicting data sources. What I said is that you are only looking at a small part of your overall usage. You directly consume 32,000 gallons through flushing your toilet, showering, watering your lawn, doing laundry, etc. That does not take into account the water used in the manufacture of the computer you are using right now. Of your phone, your soda in the fridge, all that stuff. Those things do not show up on your statement. You have no way to reasonably measure or understand them.

FTFA:

I got permission from Robert Morris and Sam Madden to monitor the wireless traffic during their Computer Systems Engineering class and made an announcement at the beginning of a class period explaining what I’d be doing.

He told everyone up front he was going to do this and people were still chatting, watching TV, reading about Warcraft, and updating their blogs. Just imagine how bad it would have been if he hadn't said anything. I bet some hard working people who were rejected by MIT are really happy to read this.
