Comment Huh? It is designed to teach kids programming (Score 1) 170

The whole point (from the Raspberry Pi Foundation point of view) is to teach kids programming?

You get a RPi, with a SDcard already with the OS on it, plug it into the monitor, keyboard and mouse and go.... Covering all that up with a web interface which just adds another layer of stuff doesn't make sense. Personally, I prefer to use it command line, no GUI and get right into code.

As for delivery... if you are still waiting for one, you bought it from the wrong place. You can order them now and get them in a week or less. I got one in 3 days.

BTW I don't speak for the Foundation...

Comment Use a 12V cooler (Score 1) 165

In Arizona, with a115F day, my truck can heat up pretty good... I use a small 12V cooler to store anything that can't handle the heat. I have a very heavy duty battery so the drain is not an issue. I always crack my back windows a bit to help keep the truck cooler and park in the shade if it is available.

I use a couple silicon packs in it to absorb moisture. Similar to what you put into safes to keep moisture out. I keep it unplugged if not using it. Coolers using Ice cause moisture and if you forgot to get Ice... This is always ready to use if needed.

Comment Randomly generated password for every site (Score 1) 446

Use a password wallet. I use a random password for almost every site. One gets broken into, they have no idea what the password is to the other.

A decent wallet can sync to more than one location (like phone)... use a good base password.

Starting to see more 2 Factor Authentication which is even better.

Comment When it sells for Apple charges then fair compare (Score 1) 639

I had no real issues getting into a Nexus 7 box. Certainly a lot less of a hassle than a lot of those plastic containers that a lot of products come with that need to be open with a knife and torn apart.

Saw the unboxing videos and thought it was actually pretty funny.

I will note however, that opening the Amazon Kindle Fire box was one of the easiest I've ever done though.

Comment Go after the companies (Score 5, Insightful) 439

Go after the companies that are supporting the bill as well. Look what happened to GoDaddy when it was found out they were supporting it. Imagine what happens when companies like 1800contacts, Ford, Adidas and others start getting consumers telling them to drop support as well or lose business.

Business funds Congress... if they start saying no, Congress will say no too.
