Doches writes: "Good news from the UK (via the NYTimes): looks like British Telecom is officially canceling their partnership with the controversial advertising company Phorm. I'm sure you all remember Phorm, which builds web browsing profiles of ISP subscribers via deep packet inspection; this is great news for BT customers (e.g. most of the UK), since BT's adoption of Phorm would have basically done away with any semblance of privacy in web surfing. Don't rejoice too soon, though — apparently BT called off the deal 'because of budget limitations caused by investments in other technology, not because of privacy concerns.'"

With annoyingly increasing frequency I do. Makes me long for the days when companies developed the PC version first, then dumbed down the interface and ported it to consoles. Bethesda, how could you?

Probably because there's no reason for them to expend the resources to develop or support a native Linux client, especially when the Wine community is so willing to do it for them. At least, that's why CCP discontinued their EVE Online linux client -- and while Blizzard has rather more resources than CCP (Or the entire nation of Iceland, for that matter), a free port is still nothing to sneeze at.

The way Republicans down in Texas keep talking, saying 'The United States (California and Texas)' is akin to saying 'The United Kingdom (England and Massachusetts)'

Also, technically the UK doesn't include Northern Ireland. The 'United Kingdom' is the United Kingdom of England and Scotland; 'Great Britain' is England, Scotland, and (Northern) Ireland.

earthforce_1 writes: "It looks like the founders at digg.com have received and complied with a takedown notice regarding the HD-DVD master keys, and blocking accounts of some users attempting to repost the keys. Subscribers have revolted en-masse and have reposted the keys in at least a dozen story threads and thousands of comments in countless ways. They also modded up all stories about the censored keys until at one point, every single front page story was about the HD-DVD keys! Until the original story was taken down, it was modded up over 15,000 times, an all time record.

This has been a totally unprecedented subscriber revolt against the website moderators, and at least one story thread suggests one of the founders had taken promotional money from the HD-DVD consortium."
