Living In Tokyo's Capsule Hotels 269

afabbro writes "Capsule Hotel Shinjuku 510 once offered a night’s refuge to salarymen who had missed the last train home. Now with Japan enduring its worst recession since World War II, it is becoming an affordable option for people with nowhere else to go. The Hotel 510’s capsules are only 6 1/2 feet long by 5 feet wide. Guests must keep possessions, like shirts and shaving cream, in lockers outside of the capsules. Atsushi Nakanishi, jobless since Christmas says, 'It’s just a place to crawl into and sleep. You get used to it.'”

Get your facts right before you comment.

First of in Denmark health care is free, we all pay through our taxes, so no one is being cheated of anything.
Secondly if you bothered to RTFA or even the summary you would know that these people are hired OUT as consultants. And as for helping them:

"In return, Specialisterne assumes much more responsibility for their employees than most companies, with learning experts and social workers on staff."

ps. I think you're confusing there with their.

Saboteur Launch Plagued By Problems With ATI Cards 230

An anonymous reader writes "So far, there are over 35 pages of people posting about why EA released Pandemic Studios' final game, Saboteur, to first the EU on December 4th and then, after knowing full well it did not work properly, to the Americas on December 8th. They have been promising to work on a patch that is apparently now in the QA stage of testing. It is not a small bug; rather, if you have an ATI video card and either Windows 7 or Windows Vista, the majority (90%) of users have the game crash after the title screen. Since the marketshare for ATI is nearly equal to that of Nvidia, and the ATI logo is adorning the front page of the Saboteur website, it seems like quite a large mistake to release the game in its current state."

Killing for food is one thing, try to kill something out of mercy. I had to put my hamster to sleep (laugh all you want) recently. It couldn't move, was blind on one eye and very near its death. I felt bad about it for the better part of a week.

And I'm not at all queasy when it comes to killing in games, went through Soldier of Fortune killing most with groin shoots :) Hell even women or children it doesn't matter much if then stand between me and the objective I'm trying to accomplish.

I think one of the reasons are, that the voters vote for whatever party they normally vote for, regardless of the parties individual EU politics.

The 7 of June we'll to vote for our EU representatives here in Denmark. There only 2 small parties who actively oppose EU, one wants us to quit entirely or at the least keep our opt-out referendum the other want a slimmer EU where all decisions are still made at a national level.

I doubt they'll get more that 2 mandates.

The usage is as simple as 3 steps : fill the form, confirm, that's all

The site is quiet new and simple for now, it is going to grow if people like the idea.

Submission + - HDMI Enabled Graphics Cards Debut

TrackinYeti writes: "HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface), is the first industry supported digital-only interface, that requires a single cable to connect an output source to an HD-ready device, such as a television or monitor and deliver HD video, plus multi-channel digital audio, like Dolby Digital and DTS. Recently, Asus Computer released versions of their GeForce 7600 and Radeon X1600 cards with HDMI outputs on them, driven by an on-board Sil1930 controller. These are some of the first graphics cards to hit the market that can output HDMI natively with an integrated HDCP cipher engine and support HD-audio as well. Just the thing for that HTPC?"

Submission + - Don't Blame Vista

Chris Speed writes: There's been a significant amount of "buzz" circulating on the internet over an article written by a well respected computer scientist and cryptologist named Peter Gutmann, whose article, "A Cost Analysis of Windows Vista Content Protection" has gained considerable notoriety since its initial publication in late 2006. His article mainly portrays Windows Vista as the cause for DRM and paints an overall bad picture of the new OS. But is this article really an analysis of Vista? FastSilicon.com takes a second look at Dr. Gutmann's article and finds many minor flaws and flat out errors.
