First the question needs to be asked Are Non American Entities bases overseas protected under the constitution? The Question of it effecting the free speech rights of US citizens is a moot one as the people who use TikTok could Move to a different platform. As far as National security as far as data collection that can be mitigated by policy preventing people who work with sensitive data from using TikTok on any devices that use to handle that data (this includes personal devices if they use it for any work related reason at any point at all) Personally i feel that TikTok's potential threat is not one related to Data collection but the more palpable threat of allowing a potential belligerent power having access to mass media control. for example if a War were to break out over Taiwan TikTok could and most likely would be used as a propaganda delivery medium but even this could be handled with an emergency wartime blackout. But if we wanted a real reason to Ban All forms of short form videos the effects on the brain would be a good one. https://socialmediapsychology.... https://essay.utwente.nl/96577... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/p...

Ironically I am more on Apple's side on this one for the simple reason is Epic needs a punch in the face and has been needing one for a long time. for the simple reason that Epic wants Apple to play nice with them while at the same Time Epic refuses to ply nice with non windows Platforms. Prime example is how they handled Psyonix First they bought them out https://www.rockpapershotgun.c... than later they pulled Support for every Desktop platform but windows. https://www.rocketleague.com/e... Apple should permanently ban Epic from there platform.

Removing encryption from communications by minos does not necessarily indicate that the Government wants to spy. But it does remove a potential roadblock in the investigation of child abduction or exploitation cases some of these cases can be extremely time sensitive as far as the life of the child is concerned. Secondly denying access to something like encryption is not the same as denying it to an adult and anyone arguing that it is just the first step to denying it to everyone is engaging in a slippery slope fallacy. The fact is there is a legal precedent to things being denied to minors while adults still have access to it Alcohol, Driving privileges the ability to buy tobacco products in some states the ability to buy a playboy or similar magazine, government has a long history of denying things specifically to children things because as a general rule children are easily exploited or make poor choices due to a lack of life experance.
