My assumption is anyone that would mistake a quote from some 1950's John Birch guy for a statement from a Founder is probably more worried about black people or Mexicans voting than preserving government by, of and for the People.

Unless you consider Ronald Reagan one of the founders, which considering your sentiment, is quite possible. Either people have the right to consent to their government or they don't. Whether or not there are social programs does not change that. What that quote (from the 1950's) is really saying is, "We'd be better off if people who disagree with me weren't allowed to vote".

Hey, I have a question about FPGA. I know almost nothing about them.
Can they be re-configured once the blocks are programmed? I don't know anything about processor design, but I'm curious if FPGAs are the kind of thing you configure once for a particular application and then that's it or if they can be reconfigured again later for another application.
See, I told you I don't know anything about these things. If it's a really stupid question, I'm apologize. I read a blurb about FPGA and was wondering.

If they are becoming obese, the particular individual has a surplus of caloric intake, if only for this year or month. This is not to say that they have proper nutrition. So I am not at all clear that the fact that there is obesity in the third world is confounding evidence.
They very much do. Some 60% of the workforce works for corporations, most of them large. What do you think happens to their job if that corporation isn't profitable?

The last time I had a professional video produced, I paid $5000 for a one-minute commercial, and those were rock-bottom prices from hungry people who wanted it for their own portfolio. I doubt I could get that today. $8000 for the entire conference is really volunteer work on Gary's part.
Someone's got to pay for it. One alternative would be to get a corporate sponsor and give them a keynote, which is what so many conferences do, but that would be abandoning our editorial independence. Having Gary fund his own operation through Kickstarter without burdening the conference is what we're doing. We're really lucky we could get that.
And now, 25 years later, we've got nerdy hipsters with bad tattoos and goatees clogging up coffee shops with their Macbooks, using up bandwidth downloading Apple updates, nursing small lattes for six hours while they tweet about their miserable lives.
At least now we know who to blame.
