Because the xbox controller is the de facto standard controller in windows and on steam. And Linus knows that to get Linux onto everyones desktop one of the biggest shortcomings in Linux is mainstream commercial software and games. Steam OS (which cqan be installed over linux and not just standalone) sorta fixes that so it helps if the OS already has controller support.

What I am waiting for is when Linux has out of the box support for those $1 usb bluetooth modules. They are a bitch to get working and really needed when youre setting up Linux as a HTPC and you dont want a huge IR module hanging out of your pc.

In fact one of the reasons for microsoft making that abomination of an os windows 8 was because they thought apple was very close to coming out with a os with ios and osx combined together.

Combining osx and ios together would make a lot of sense for apple because osx lacks games while ios lacks serious programs for content creation. Putting the two together will give apple the perfect os for content consumption and content creation to better take on windows.

when you consider that valve will be coming out with a linux based os to play steam games and microsoft shutting down gfwl, there is getting less and less compelling reasons to own windows. Even programs like ms office and autocad can be found on osx.

The banning of geo blocking would be a great step in the right direction. Stop companies from redirecting us to the Australian store when we specifically put in the url for the overseas counterpart for example steam. If I want to buy from steam US without using a vpn (which is against steam policy if I used a vpn) then I should be able to instead of being forced back to the Australian site. Steam saying that I have to buy from the aussie steam store because some games are banned or censored does not hold water when it is only not illegal for an australian to buy rc goods overseas for personal consumption. Prices differences between the US steam store and the Aussie one can be quite drastic too. Outlaw this too.

Call of Duty 2

Ok I did some digging and found this:

At the Game Developer's Conference (GDC 2013), Sony said, "PS4 Shader Language is very similar to HLSL, allows features BEYOND Direct X 11 and OpenGL 4.0"

Then some moron interpreted that as meaning Sony would use directx and extend its features but all it meant is Sony saying their shader language would be better than direct 11 and opengl 4.0.

Comment Re:DirectX on the Playstation? (Score 1) 403

There is some news on google about this but they are all from before the ps4 specs were officially announced. I'd say its false since the ps4 runs BSD and directx ran on nix we would have seen it a lot earlier on macs and linux games. As it is all mac and linux games use opengl and there is no reason to believe the ps4 will not be the same on joining the x86 crowd with nix.

I see what you are saying but its actually the other way around. In a LED light the LEDs has a longer lifespan than the controller. You can see this in a LED streetlight. The control circuitry is a simple plug in plugout to replace. The LED panel is modular too but thats more so the streetlight designer can specify how many LEDs for the lumens he needs.

I can see a lot better use for this than putting it on buildings. How often do buildings in the first world get bombed anyway and what affect will it have on demolishing them when needed? Put them in carparks, as crash barriers and traffic devices, even fencing walls, anything to hold cars back so they cannot cause greater damage to others.

Here's my complaints:

16:9 resolutions on a 16:10 monitor is bugged. Any 16:9 resolution you pick the game will stretch it out to 16:10.

Mouse sensitivity is screwed up as you say. One it is too sensitive and two it seems to move in y axis faster than in the x, so when youre walking you view moves up and down too much , and I'm not talking about the head bob.

If there are stairs that are part of a building you have to jump to walk up them unlike all the other stairs in your path.

Game is very linear in your choice and it is very short. I finished it in 10 hours yesterday.

During the game and in the menus I have to hit the enter key. I can't remember when I last had to use the enter to in a game other than for chatting.

The Menus are very dumbed down and simplified. If you want to get to the nitty gritty stuff you have to edit the ini files.

You cannot manually save. All saves are automatic and you dont know when it happens, which means if you die you dont know if those items you last picked up have to be picked up again. Also makes it harder if you just want to explore the place and not worry about dying because if you die its hard to keep track of your progress unlike if you could exactly when you wanted to.

These are the main things that annoy me about the game.
