I know about the IPs running out, that is 100% clear; but does IPv6 have any other benefits?
Do you need any other benefits? The workarounds currently used because of shortage of IP addresses are causing problems. Those problems will go away once IPv6 is deployed. Most users have never seen an Internet without NAT. They simply haven't seen what the Internet is supposed to be capable of.
There are a few other changes. There was a little bit of cleanup in the protocol as well. The experience with IPv4 had shown a few things that were more complicated than they needed to be. Those simplifications means that hardware designed to route IPv6 packets can be slightly faster than hardware designed to route IPv4. Current performance measurements actually show a greater benefit from IPv6 than can be explained from those simplifications alone. Nobody really knows why there is that difference, because you only see a clear tendency when you look at the Internet at large, if you look at individual networks there is too much variation due to other causes.
If you want to know if there are any more advantages, the answer is going to be too technical for the average user to understand.
