Well, I agree with you. The AK-47 is a remarkably good weapon by almost any measure. But I think the discussion is about larger weapon systems. You know, tanks, ships, planes, helicopters, etc. Also, being popular does not mean being the best. Many countries choose their weapon supplier based on political considerations.
