Well, figure 16 hours awake, with a 8-hour workday. The average office worker spends the whole working day in front of a computer, which means all it takes is another 96 minutes of screen time to reach 60%. Between your phone, your home computer and your TV, that's not very hard to hit.
Consider the state of network technologies 10 years ago. There is so much that can be done in the last mile by actually deploying fiber, combined with up and coming high speed switching speeds that I don't think this will be a problem long.
Whether people want to invest another couple grand on a new display, that's another thing.
What they *can* do is put that kind of resolution on desktop displays. Please, enough with the "1920x1080 is high resolution" bullshit. We all had the ability to do 1600x1200 on CRTs over a decade ago.
Och, that's too bad, transit directions are working in Chicago at least.
While I'm extremely glad to have Google Transit directions back, I'm honestly shocked at the lack of integration with iOS contacts. Typing in your friend's name for directions to their place is a pretty basic use case.
