AFAIK, it's a project to create an OS that is compatible with Maemo but entirely based on Free Software. One of the goals (IIRC) is to allow running programs using the Freemantle APIs on the semi-abandoned N800s and N810s.

I had the same experience traveling, then moving from Germany to the USA: you learn pretty quickly that you better leave off the downstroke on your 1s in those I94 forms.

Nowadays I use english style 1s and 9s, but cross out my 7s, which seems to work in either country.
