It may not have been wise for me to spend years training vi into my muscle memory, but it's done now, and I'm not especially interested in giving up that advantage.
Always good to know vi, since that's the one editor guaranteed to be on all Unixes. At a previous company, all the other devs only knew emacs, but the customer's flavor of UNIX didn't come with emacs. They had to request that emacs be installed on the servers, and it took the customer months before they finally did it.
Hole in someone's head, maybe - after all, a simple spreadsheet to track something this basic or a reminder in a calendar with alerts with someone assigned to keep an eye on things would take care of things like this. They're lucky it wasn't held hostage...
I'm sure someone that spreadsheet with a calendar reminder, but then they probably got laid off and didn't bother give the info to anyone else.
I mean, really: Emacs looks great in character mode and 80 columns. Why all this other faffing about?
