Comment Creationists Can Not Read! (Score 3, Insightful) 667

Sadly Christianity in the US has sects that might as well be in a Looney Tunes cartoon. It starts with rabid, primitive ministers who preach absurd sermons. They take one word, not understanding the meaning, and form cults from the linguistic confusion. LeBron James played an inspired basketball game the other night. It was wonderful to watch. He may have been inspired by god, Himself. That does not imply that Lebron played a perfect basketball game. there is a huge difference between inspired and perfect. The men who wrote the Bible were inspired. The King James version in particular is a work of the highest art. That does not imply that the bible is perfect. After all, it was written by men who were just like LeBron james inspired but not perfect. Further the message of the Bible had to be delivered in a way that people could understand it. Terms that are understood to men in the 21st. century would have meant nothing at all to men 2,000 years ago. But take a backwoods Baptist minister wound up in full religious fervor and he can take a Bible and twist it into nonsense beyond all reason. As America has declined we have more and more wrectched people who simply latch on to straws trying to survive. The doctrines that they latch onto would be an abomination to Christ and are not part of the Christian faith. But we all understand that no matter how much proof of evolution emerges that backwoods nut of a minister can simply claim the proofs were created by the devil and are all false proofs. If anything it was that minister who was created by the devil to deceive the followers.

There are many companies and industries that do not have a good reputation among workers for taking care of older or burned out employees. Unless it is a time of very limited job openings it means that younger workers will demand far higher starting wages and better raises to stay with a company. If a potential employee is not smart enough to insist upon fair pay and some very real assurance of doing well then you really do not want to hire him anyway. The old, vague promises of yesteryear will no longer work. One tactic an employee can use is to start a new job by casually asking how many people around him in the business are long time employees. If there are too many fairly new workers it may be time to leave before you even start.

So maybe all the thinking, feeling and running about that humans do is simply proof of our inferiority. think about it. The pine tree needs water, sunshine, a few minerals and an atmosphere and that is about it. Humans need all kinds of things. I've never seen a tree shoot anyone, go mental, or rape other trees. Actually prison is not supposed to have anything to do with punishment. Prison is meant to keep people away from society. Making it unpleasant simply insures that the inmate is more likely to be full of anger and more likely to commit worse crimes upon release. The real snag is that rehabilitation usually won't work and is very, very expensive. It is also a huge issue in hard times as convicts will live better than many poor people do every day. Prisons might be the worst of all examples of really bad management of any arm of government.

Then watch how many agencies, businesses and individuals fight that like wildfire. think of one good reason that JFK files are sealed for yet another 16 years. And when they are released we will see copies with all kinds of items covered with black markers. For how many years could i buy an M1 rifle at my local gun store while it was still classified as top secret? We found out in the Great Depression that some small foreign nations suffering economic collapse could cause the US to have an economic breakdown. It also touched off WWII which was expensive and remains expensive even today. But do note that when an economy simply vanishes the world does not stop turning. The Confederate States of America had a total economic collapse in 1865 and all Confederate currency became worthless. Debts were never repaid and the south cam e back from it all. Many nations vanish. Many economies vanish. Many banks and markets vanish and the world keeps right on running along. Yes there is human suffering when such things occur but then again we have plenty of human suffering when nothing collapses anyway. It is rather like the hand gun issue. Guns are seen as an issue when the wrong people get shot. Collapse of an economy really only threatens groups that are living well. there is a bit of a homeless camp down the way and an economic collapse would mean little to them as their own economy collapsed already.

Once we can do those things extending life longer than a reasonable span would seem to then be a goal to establish. Imagine America with one hundred million Alzheimer victims with a greatly extended life span. What a nightmare that could be.
