As a Libertarian, thank you. I live in NH and get a lot of calls from presidential survey companies, "In the upcoming election will you vote for the Republican X or Democrat Y." And I respond with "Neither, I'll be voting for the Libertarian candidate Z" They don't seem to ever like that since the little boxes they use don't have that option. I'll be told, "Sir, that isn't an option" and then I get on my soapbox....

Part of why I became a Libertarian was to have an impact. The phrase "The only wasted vote, is the one that goes to a Democrat or a Republican." really hits home and I'm going to start using that a lot. I have a friend with her PHD in Political Science. I thought voting for anything but X or Y was a waste but she pointed out that anybody who usually votes one way or the other is already a notched vote, it isn't going to change. The 2 big parties need me, so what can they do to get my vote? So by voting and being vocal about how I feel I can get the attention of X and Y and maybe they will change a bit towards my direction. So by acting how I do, I impact both sides. If I am a solid X or a solid Y I'm just in the pile to be counted, not to be courted.

My wife is on Virgin Mobile (which is the Sprint network) $25/month, unlimited text, data, and 300 minutes. Coverage is actually pretty good. It's also pay as you go and you just buy your phone up front (I think it was $100). It's some kind of LG with Android 2.2. It gets it done and it's really cheap. I would highly recommend it as a way to save $50/month vs Verizon.

I was doing truecrypt but didn't like the extra steps to open a file, dump stuff in, etc. I gave boxcryptor http://www.boxcryptor.com/ a whirl and have been very happy with it. It adds on right to dropbox. It's free (up to 2 gig of encryption) and a one time fee for unlimited. I tried spider oak too but didn't like how it all worked and I'm not a fan of re-occuring costs.

If the brakes in the car fail due to floormats, then a special system to allow the brakes to 'over ride' the gas could also fail for other reasons such as floor mats still just blocking the brakes (which I've never really understood anyways). I could see a new system like this actually causing more problems by making the breaking/gas more complex.

What you've written makes sense. However IMHO it is different to those things public (by posting on Facebook) then to just doing those things. As far as I'm concerned if it's posted on Facebook expect everybody you know, and will ever know, to see it. Forever. I try to be very careful about what I post online for that reason.

What I find most intriguing about Facebook isn't the actual content of the post, but that people choose to post things that will forever be available for viewing forever to perhaps anybody. It's like if you pull our embarrassing photos of your child to their date, but your child is planting embarrassing photos and comments to be shown at a later date to everybody. I can see that as a lack of judgement in some cases.

What's strange is I was thinking the same thing. I've had that happen to me from time to time. Day to day, using a password I use all the
time and boom... wtf... I can't remember it. The thing is with my work stuff there is always a way around, I can call the guys that manage our
servers and have them reset it (they know my voice and confirm who I am with a personal question, not a password). The crazy thing is it can be something I use all the time. In high school I would forget my locker combo after using it for 3 years. So for my personal stuff.. well.. I've actually lost drives that I just can't remember how to get into them if I can't remember the login, kind of silly.
