Yes, you're dealing with a binomial distribution (yes/no). As long as the hypothesis is not near 0 or 1, you should be able to get a "reasonable" estimate of the population proportion around 50% (like +/- 14%). YMMV

I'm not sure about that. I have a Windows 8.1 laptop with a touch screen. I never use the touch screen.

Once I got a Start Menu replacement (Classic Shell) and disabled all but the most hidden ways to launch some Windows 8 full screen apps, I can use it quite productively as a real computer. Otherwise, it's a shiny tablet for watching videos and fumbling at fake screen keyboards with.

Besides, my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is a much better tablet.

I've had my Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 for a few months now and I find that I have to remind myself it has a touch screen. There have been zero cases where I needed the touch screen. Maybe if I was stuck in Metro, but Classic Shell has allowed me to never see that. I cannot figure out why a 3200x1800 screen should only allow one application.

I can't use OneDrive on my 8.1 computer without using a "Microsoft Live" log in. So, this is a deal breaker for OneNote.

It looks like you are supposed to sync your OneNotes through OneDrive. Since OneDrive doesn't work with Windows 8.1, this seems like a deal breaker.

I know you can use a public Microsoft account to log in to 8.1 and use OneDrive. But seriously, who would do that? Need to cancel my Sky..err..OneDrive

I've seen estimates from the US government at 2%. Sounds like 1-3% wouldn't be able to hear music anyway. Didn't RTFA, perhaps they accounted for that.

Wife and I have a family plan with separate data and shared minutes. AT&T wants $30/month for the a texting plan. Even at $0.20/text, we don't come close to $30.

Really, I've been proposing that each GPA be presented with the average GPA for students taking the same class sections. For some students, a 3.5 would be weak (if the average student got a 3.9). For others, it might be outstanding (if the average was a 3.2).

This also makes it more likely that students will take courses with challenging grades. If all a professor gives is A's I can't raise my effective GPA. But, a professor that gives a C+ average gives me the opportunity to decrease my denominator.

We have timers on most of the lights here in Podunkville Ohio.

It's a college town and we have lots of pedestrians. I guess the idea was to make intersections safer and discourage jaywalking. Didn't curb that, but really helps in timing your approach to an intersection.
