The Clinton ban 1 didnâ(TM)t reduce violent crime. In fact we are safer in the USA now than during the ban 2 didnâ(TM)t ban âoe assault weapons âoe it just banned silly features like bayonet lugs and pistol grips and some safety features like threaded barrels and adjustable stocks. 3 it donâ(TM)t save even one life.

More gun laws ? Only if you consider laws allowing more gun rights to be gun laws. There have been more PRO GUN laws passed than ever before. Also polling in the USA , esp among younger voters , is against gun bans. Then boomers are the strongest supporters of gun control and they wonâ(TM)t be with us much longer.

But they arenâ(TM)t being sold to kids. Whatâ(TM)s actually happening is some âoe guy on the corner âoe buys the kits , assembles them and sells them on the black market. So yes without 80% lowers being sold , the same guy will just 3d print the parts. And yes even barrels can be made at home. When you can get a good enough 3d printer for 500 bucks and a good enough CNC mill for 2000 bucks , gun control isnâ(TM)t going to happen.

In the United States replacement gun parts( like a barrel ) are not serialized. Only one part ( usually the frame or receiver ) is serialized. âoe80%â receivers are a receiver that is not finished. It needs holes drilled or milling done , and then it needs all the parts fitted and installed.

A bump stock doesnâ(TM)t make a gun full auto. It just allows you to work the trigger faster and with much less accuracy. And itâ(TM)s nothing you canâ(TM)t do with a belt or a shoe lace. Many actual fire arms experts think the law Vegas shooter could have killed MORE a people if he had NOT used a bump stock and simply aimed better and had faster accurate follow up shots.

âoeGun deaths âoe are the problem. Thatâ(TM)s a dumb measurement. It lumps accidents , suicides and murders together. It also ignores not gun murders and , more importantly , suicides. 66% of âoe gun deaths âoe in the USA are suicide. Nearly all of those people would have used another method of suicide had guns not been available. Even many murders would use a substitute weapon ( not as likely however ).

You guys donâ(TM)t know much. Most mass shootings in the USA are done with handguns not ar15s. And mass shootings like the one you described are actually rare in the USA. Most âoe mass shootingsâ are gang/drug/ crime related. They are not âoe public active shooterâ incidents. Most âoe ghost guns âoe are not home built or kit weapons. They are stolen guns with the serial numbers filed off.

It only appears that way to people who havenâ(TM)t studied the issue and seen the numbers. The USA doesnâ(TM)t have a âoegun problemâ the USA has a very narrowly targeted violence problem that separates our murder rate from countries like Canada. We do have an inequality problem, that is likely responsible for much of our violent crime problem.

Prohibition doesnâ(TM)t work for guns or alcohol or drugs and never had in any country. In fact it almost always makes the problem worse. The countries that have a criminal market for guns will ( and do ) have that market served regardless of the laws. Same with drugs and booze. Also the USA has a very low murder rate compared to other countries with the same GINI coefficient. This is significant because that measure of inequality has been shown to correlate with homicide rates. Itâ(TM)s very likely a USA with gun prohibition would look more like Russia or Mexico than Norway or even Canada as far as gun crime levels.

The number of âoe ghost guns âoe is not accurate. The ATF doesnâ(TM)t track home made firearms. The number shown includes home made firearms , older guns never serialized and guns with the serial numbers altered or removed. The VAST majority of guns in those three categories are regular fire arms that have had the serial numbers removed. Homemade guns are a tiny fraction of that number. Kids can purchase stolen guns from criminals anywhere and have been able to for decades. 3d printing and other technology has made gun control impossible. But the vast majority of crime guns in the USA are not homemade.

Thatâ(TM)s not generally what happens in real life when an armed citizen stops a public shooter. 1/4 of all public active shooting incidents are stopped by armed citizens btw, at least from fbi data. Thatâ(TM)s not the same thing as a mass shooting, but itâ(TM)s related. The real issue with mass shootings is media coverage. It appears to be linked.
