Beware!

There ARE things that can't be done under virtualbox... Maybe, yet.

First one that comes to mind is mildly esoteric... PCI pass through.
This allows a VM to have full control of hardware elements of the virtualization host.

This is how Nutanix does it's storage "magic"... A VM is given control of the majority of the storage controllers on the host.
Nutanix is KVM/qemu/libvirt under the hood. PCI pass through is inherent with that mix.

Not at Nutanix, but I've also seen network controllers and GPU/video controllers dedicated to a VM this way.

NAT is what gives what marginal protection there is to be had for the vast majority of idiots using the internet.

The idea of flat addressing for everybody/thing is a utopian fantasy that ignores the hundreds of millions of script kiddies that escaped from a " diesel-smoking bus with hundreds of ebola victims" (https://www.hoboes.com/FireBlade/Politics/highway/)

In fact, both Walmart and Amazon own significant portions of PLUG for the same reason... OK, maybe not Amazon. Walmart freaked when Amazon got involved a several years ago,

Walmart use the H2 forklift systems in their warehouses and have for years because propane driven units really don't work well in the closed environment of a warehouse (carbon monoxide anyone?), battery power units are "down for charging over 40% of the time" (the fleet needs to be almost 50% larger due to down time $$$$$)

When Paramount, Fox and MGM owned theaters, it was called a trust and they were forced to divest.
Now, companies like National Amusements own those theaters... And the company the supplies the concessions (look up National Amusements)... And the studios.
So, when you go to the theater and they tell you popcorn is $10 because the studio charges them so much for the movies that "this the only way to stay afloat"; Understand, the studio pays National Amusements a chunk of what they collect from the theater; The Concession supplies pay National Amusements; The theater pays National Amusements too.
National Amusements started out as a Jukebox/pinball/slot machine company (again, look it up)
Now tell me who owns the all of this?
I know who owned the jukebox/pinball/slot racket.
