Sometimes - but pure coincidence, or chance, is not likely to be persistent. It's like rolling dice: you may get a series of sexes, but if it goes on indefinitely, then the suspicion must be that there is something dodgy going on.

You know, if I roll dice and get a series of sexes I'm going to conclude something dodgy is going on right there - no need for persistence.

I hear that multiple-shootings (and other acts of terror, insanity, or political action by violent means) in the US have also declined substantially. (Don't have a footnote handy or I wouldn't have hedged the statement, but it squares with my personal experience.)

How many multiple-shootings did you experience in past years, and how many this year?

Well, it can. About the only time I was proud of my country was when Schroeder said no to Iraq war. A conservative government would have followed Dubya without even thinking twice about it.

Absolutely! Americans who have only the Republican/Democrat "choice" to contemplate can too easily dismiss the difference made by the party in power. Joschka Fischer and the SPD/Grüne coalition conducted a foreign policy significantly different from that of the CDU.
