Submission + - AT&T Will Pay Part of Your Bill if You Threate (getyourgadgetsgoing.com)

Tristan36 writes: "There has been a lot of people talking about how paying the early termination fee, and moving to Sprint from AT&T will actually be cheaper than simply paying for an early upgrade (for those who get that sort of thing). Now, it seems that the AT&T staff have been instructed to offer some incentive to those who threaten to leave for another carrier. Here we thought that 4G was incentive enough!"

Submission + - Latest combat drone makes wheels up test flight (suasnews.com)

garymortimer writes: "The U.S. Navy/Northrop Grumman Corporation X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System Demonstration aircraft reached a major milestone Sept. 30 when it retracted its landing gear and flew in its cruise configuration for the first time.

The flight, conducted at Edwards Air Force Base, also helped validate precision navigation hardware and software that will allow the X-47B to land with precision on the moving deck of an aircraft carrier.

“Last week’s flight gave us our first clean look at the aerodynamic cruise performance of the X-47B air systemand it is proving out all of our predictions,” said Janis Pamiljans, vice president and Navy UCAS program manager for Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Systems sector. “Reaching this critical test point demonstrates the growing maturity of the air system, and its readiness to move to the next phase of flight testing.”"

Submission + - Google+ loses 60% of active users (theinquirer.net) 2

tech4 writes: Despite users curiosity around Google+, it seems like most Google+ users just wanted to see the platform and then returned to Facebook. 'Google has lost over 60 per cent of its active users on its social network Google+, according to a report by Chitika Insights, raising questions about how well it is doing against its rival, Facebook. Despite the clear interest in an alternative to Facebook, it does not appear that the people joining are staying around and actively using the web site. Google's problem is not getting users in the first place, it seems, but rather keeping them after they have arrived. For now it appears that a lot of users are merely curious about Google+, but return to the tried and tested format of Facebook when the lustre fades. The problem is that Facebook is not going to rest on its laurels while Google attempts to get the advantage. Already it has added features inspired by Google+, particularly in terms of improving the transparency of its privacy options.'
