this exactly.

There are many cases where humans introducing something or removing something has had a severe negative impact on ecosystems, causing us to further mess with the ecosystem to try and mitigate the issues caused by our mitigations.

Hawaii and mongoose is a very easy obvious one,and there are many many more like that.

I've never seen a laptop with a discreet board that did not allow you to change which video card applications used, usually in performance settings. If you wanted Firefox to not use the nvidia card you could just set it to static powersaving mode. 10 google seconds gave me this example: https://support.serato.com/hc/...

Honestly, I've always considered the privacy of iOS devices subjective as you never know what they are sharing (even if hey say they aren't) until some blows a whistle.

And I've always disliked their walled garden approach.

BUT, Apple has just won some points with me after this decision and giving some thought to the current state of Android updates in general.

Although Android itself is updated certain phones are deprecated due to hardware constraints, then the OEMs take the update and after deciding which phones to support they build their update and hand off to carriers, who also get to decide whether or not to push the update. This gives three parties control over whether or not a device is considered obsolete..when the ONLY time a piece of hardware should be deprecated is due to not being able to actually run the software due to hardware constraints (OS needs 12gb of space, but drive only contains 16 to start with..)

Looking at Apple, it is true to that their iPhone released 5 years ago is still supported. Interesting, considering for many Android users their carrier can and will deprecate their device after 1 year.

I know right!?

I don't recall having any sort of microtransactions back when I was playing Gauntlet in the 80's having to stick in 2-3 quarters every 3-5 minutes. Although it was easy to spend 20 bucks in one session. ;)

At least with today's microtransactions once you pay 20 bucks for some DLC component it sticks with you (unless you're buying ingame consumables..)

Correct. The school has the kids carry one HUGE binder containing spiral notebooks for every class. It's infuriating, we're trying to find a way to move her to a different school next year. Event to the point where I'm going to fill out a form asking permission to move her out of district.

I have on my work computer but FireFTP no longer works so I'm not so happy about that. Guess I have to start using filezilla..

Other then that I really like it. I'm not sure it'll make me stop using Chrome though as I use Google Play Music and that website has extra features when used in Chrome.

I wonder how many prime members are going to go buy one of these and not really think about how much they've been paying elsewhere. But hey, you can say you bought your Turkey at Whole Foods. Your guests will instantly pat you on the back and mention how that was one of the best turkeys..
