"As we define it" - that's the problem.
50 years ago they defined climate change as heading into a new ice age.
Now they are defining it the other way.
What are they going to be saying in another 50 years?

I'm not denying we don't have an effect on the climate, I just don't think it's as much as it's made out to be.
The Earth has been around billions of years and survived and corrected for volcanic eruptions that threw way more garbage into the atmosphere than we have.
I think we should stop all the air pollution because millions of people die from lung cancer every year because of it.
I grew up right next to a coal power station, you could see the acid rain from the Sulphur eating the galvanizing off of fences.
We did that, melting ice caps... not convinced that's just us, or that we can stop it.

Comment MS said Win10 was the last version (Score 1) 144

Didn't MS themselves say that Windows 10 would be the last version of Windows?
Did that change or did I understand it wrong?

Everything going forward will just be incremental changes to Windows 10.

It does/did seem unlikely though, at some point there will be a major change in hardware that will require a rewrite/new operating system.

Actually searching for .Net coding stuff is better on Bing than google.
It also has less DMC take down notices for when you are searching for stuffs that might be copyrighted.
Other than that I still use google.
Google search is slowly getting worse and worse as they keep getting forced to nerf their own search results.

About 99% of these could be prevented by not using MS Windows, where the overwhelming majority of attacks are targetted

True, but only initially. If everyone switched to Linux then all the attacks would target Linux, and we would see the same penetration as we do in Windoze.
At least with Windoze there is only a few versions of the operating system to update, if it was Linux it would be untold versions of the operating system spread across how many devices and microwaves and calculators. In an odd way we can be grateful they haven't targeted Linux seriously yet.

There is still no excuse for their IT people for not having decent backups that are themselves air gapped.
I do it all the time at home and all I am backing up is family photos.
