Comment The solution (Score 1) 475

The question is why should truecrypt or anyone else hold a master encryption key to your data. The software should generate a signing key on installation, and that key should be then used for signing. It could then be sent to the provider for them to store in case the original is lost. But truecrypt would not have a master key that automatically unlocks all of their customers data if subpoenaed by the government. Your key will unlock only your data and no one elses.

In that case the publisher doesn't have to sell their books via amazon. There is no requirement under law that they do so. The fact that they want access to Amazon's audience because they still make a profit from it, even if it's less than thy would ordinarily like. says volumes. I am also not locked into buying my books solely from Amazon, yes it's the easiest way, but with programs like Calibre I can buy from any company and load my books to my kindle as I like.

I posted this on facebook... The drawback to this is that it encourages providers to build up their "pay for play" networks while ignoring the massive overselling of their default tier and charging the content providers to ensure that their traffic doesn't get lost or delayed in the shuffle.

A solution for this would be for the Federal Communications Commission and/or the Federal Trade Commission to require Internet access providers to have a specific percentage of their sold bandwidth available on their public network. If you have sold 3 Terabytes per second of data connections, you must have 1.25 Terabytes per second of bandwidth connected to the internet available on your public network.

Will be a distracted driver. It doesn't matter if it's the phone, the radio, the billboard they were passing going down the street. It's a minority who are distracted drivers. Perhaps a test to identify easily distracted drivers, and to ban them from driving would be a better course of action and a use of reseach dollars.

What makes glasses so expensive? Oblong plastic lenses? Plastic and metal frames? No, we’re getting screwed!

Those of us who need prescription eyewear need prescription eyewear. Are you wearing yours to read this? Imagine if you weren’t. Imagine life without your glasses for a year, a week, an hour. Yet many health insurance plans, especially for the unemployed or self-employed, don’t cover them.

"I warned you that if you increased the price for prime that this would happen, and I would cancel my account. I was not joking. It's also going to cost you my next tablet purchase. I was looking at a kindle fire hdx but without prime it's not as good of a deal as it would have been otherwise. I am looking at alternative tablets from other manufacturers now. I hope your 20$ price increase was worth the loss of my business."

The father could not reasonably be expected to keep case nor the agreement secret from his immediate family, and unless the daughter signed the agreement she could not have been bound by it. Plus the daughter didn't reveal explicit details of the settlement. I think he should appeal.
