Submission + - Man criticizes Southwest employee, booted from flight and threatened with arrest (reuters.com) 2

CanHasDIY writes: The old saying goes, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." A man from Minnesota learned the consequences Sunday, after Tweeting about his experience with a rude Southwest gate attendant:

A Minnesota man and his two sons were asked to leave a Southwest Airlines flight after the man sent a tweet complaining about being treated rudely by a gate agent... he agent told him that he would have to wait if he wanted to board with his children. Watson replied that he had boarded early with them before and then sent out a tweet that read "RUDEST AGENT IN DENVER. KIMBERLY S. GATE C39. NOT HAPPY @SWA."

After he boarded, an announcement came over the plane asking his family to exit the aircraft. Once at the gate, the agent said that unless the tweet was deleted, police would be called and the family would not be allowed back onboard."

He gave into the threat, deleted the Tweet, and was allowed to board a later flight (with his sons). Southwest, as one could have predicted, offered a boilerplate "apology" and vouchers for more terrible service.

As of this post, no word on the rude agent's current employment status.

But Keyboardio, the product that is being Slashvertised, is not, save (maybe) those two little panels on the corner. Although were I a betting man, my money would be on veneer rather than actual wood panels.

I just wonder if they come with a cord.

TFA doesn't mention one (just Bluetooth), but in one of the pictures you can clearly see part of a cord poking out from between the two sections...

If that's "wooden," I must ask: What kind of tree do you get aircraft-grade aluminum and/or mechanical keyswitches from?

Submission + - Border official points gun at Boy Scout (kcci.com)

An anonymous reader writes: A central Iowa Boy Scout troop just returned from a three-week trip they will likely never forget.
Boy Scout Troop 111 Leader Jim Fox spelled out what happened to him and the Mid-Iowa Boy Scout Troop 111 as four van-loads of Scouts and adult volunteers tried to drive from Canada into Alaska.
Fox said one of the Scouts took a picture of a border official, which spurred agents to detain everyone in that van and search them and their belongings.
âoeThe agent immediately confiscated his camera, informed him he would be arrested, fined possibly $10,000 and 10 years in prison,â Fox said.
Another of the Scouts was taking luggage from the top of a van to be searched when something startling happened.
âoeHe hears a snap of a holster, turns around, and hereâ(TM)s this agent, both hands on a loaded pistol, pointing at the young manâ(TM)s head,â Fox explained.

Sounds like yes, we as a group do indeed meet the Fascist, er Federal Government's definitions of "terrorist."

Any attributes I failed to list, that makes our community a target for clandestine government agencies?

You don't think you do, today, but that doesn't mean you don't, nor does it mean you won't at some point in the future.

The fact that governance is dynamic and contingent solely on the whims of a handful of powerful people are precisely why everyone, yourself included, should actually care about the government snooping on private information.

Oh, that and fetish sex. Because there's nothing wrong with fetish sex, but I'd bet most people who are into that sort of thing want to keep it hidden regardless.

The irony being, of course, that the type of absolute sociopath you would want to find/prevent from hiring with such a technique is exactly the person it won't work on.

No, I haven't learned your meaning. I can Google "define progressive" just the same as anyone else, and guess what? The actions of Germany's National Socialist Party very much do fit at least one of the definitions.

all you've succeeded in doing is godwining yourself by used the tired cliche of liberals = nazis.

Hey, speaking of people who don't know the definition of things - that's not a Godwin.

Godwin's law applies especially to inappropriate, inordinate, or hyperbolic comparisons of other situations (or one's opponent) with Nazis – often referred to as "playing the Hitler card".

Pointing out that Nazi-ism was a type of progressive mentality doesn't qualify, because it's accurate. You not liking the accuracy of the comparison notwithstanding.

in short: you're ignorant.

But less so than you, so I'd call that a win.
