In what office jobs I've held (mostly inbound customer service), I've never encountered an encryption program deployed company-wide to make sure data stays secure. I did see a lot of company propag-, I mean, materials referencing the need for encryption and good data protection practices. In other words, a lot of hot air.

Photoelectrochromic windows and the like have been around for quite awhile. Using OLED's for that effect would be pointless IMO. Wrong tool for the job.

How would that work? OLEDs emit light, they don't block light.

Hrmmm... New idea! If these can be put on a flexible transparent screen, programmable t-shirts! Create and upload your own graphics! Even animations! Next step, programmable, & touch-interactive clothing...

If this is low power enough, you could theoretically use this for the tinting in vehicle windows/windshields or even homes; make it a graduated but adjustable auto-tint that works on how much and/or what wavelengths of light sensors detect entering the cabin or room. The best part is, when you leave your car in the sun, instead of having to struggle with a clumsy sun screen that only protects one window, one button press blocks all the windows, keeping the cabin relatively cool by the time you return.

Oh, but they've done such a great job with all of Heinlein's other work recently. I mean, Starship Troopers? The Puppet Masters? Come on, man, these were masterpieces of cinema!

You make valid points, but it is the nature of the game you're ignoring. Microsoft does specialize in software while Apple is more hardware-based, but Microsoft's main product regardless has been most affected by Apple's software. Likewise, Apple's hardware along with their software solutions have always dealt with Microsoft as their main competition. The rivalry is just huge, and any strategically-sound opportunities to directly impact each other are usually taken advantage of.

The anti-uniform sentiment must be an American thing. In Australia, we are used to wearing uniforms, nearly all schools mandate this. I work in a hospital IT department, and have purchased a number of hospital branded polo shirts, primarily because I hate ironing, but also because it shows off our organisation and is good marketing.
