I have often wondered and been a great fan of slashdot for many years including freshmeat. I wanted to know how big the slashdot community really is and why you crash web servers with so many clicks.
I want to see if my web host can handle slashdot traffic with a couple of pictures of my loving Cat called Bonkie!
The links do not contain malware or anything else but two pictures of my "furry friend" which can be used by anyone and hopefully can become the slashdot cat!
http://www.fluxradio.org/bonk.jpg is her relaxing and http://www.fluxradio.org/bonk1.jpg this is my cat at 5x zoom about 40ft coming down a tree hunting which is an amazing photograph.
I will take a photograph of my cat for slashdot with a comment. If you can come up with an excellent "clause" for me to write and photograph her, I will gladly do it just for you!
We all love our pets so submit your pics of your "loving slashdot" Mutts, Cats and Rabbits Horses, Sheep etc :)
This will be a nice experiment.

This morning, I decided to phone a friend hoping to save some money by phoning from my mobile phone instead of using my landline to save money. Call me me what you like, but I am on a "pay as you go" phone and only top up £10.00 every 3 months, as I believe Mobiles/Cellphones are for emergencies only and should not be be used for "small talk, pointless chatter or texting".
My call defaulted to voicemail and cost me £0.40 from 02 to T-mobile! I thought I was seeing things and tried phoning again as I knew my friend was travelling and possibly out of range. Again another £0.40 charge!
Being perplexed by these charges, I phoned my own mobile phone from my landline and let it go over to voicemail and also found out this cost me £0.10 from my landline (same company as my mobile phone BT 02). What's more I was charged another £0.10 for retriving the message from my mobile!
I then did another test, put my phone in the basement with no signal then phoned from my landline with voicemail enabled. It defaulted to voicemail and yes I was charged again. I turned off voicemail and was not charged. I phoned my friend again from a BT landline to T-Mobile and was charged another £0.40 for her voicemail.
Hopefully, others will now turn off voicemail and save a few quid and stop telecoms companies cashing in, with under-handed charges. Remember if you are not available, you do not need voicemail, better still turn your mobile off. Common sense really.

We now find out that 9,200 unaccounted for virals are found at Army biodefense Lab. Say reports on the One Click http://www.theoneclickgroup.co.uk/news.php?start=2700&end=2720&view=yes&id=3510#newspost It is obvious that anthrax and other deadly viruses could have been released and the FBI finding that a Fort Detrick scientist was responsible for deadly 2001 anthrax attacks, said Michael Brady, special assistant to Army Secretary Pete Geren.
I suppose this story is going to roll out even more questions that people want answers to.

Your medical details are now unravelling even further in the UK http://www.thebigoptout.com/?page_id=3
This is just another chapter regarding violations of privacy. 8 months ago, I made various phone calls to different hospitals in different Cities. because I could not be seen in my local hospital and had to see by a specialist in another city which subscribes to the UK Gov information sharing programme.
After writing several letters, I was assured my medical data would remain private, but this is not so! even though I had a letter stating no information would be shared it has been and I am pissed off. I even gave my doctor an opt-out letter which he said he said he would make a note on my file.
So I went to see a specialist in another City over a balance problem, the specialist pulls up the data on the screen and says, ah yes I see you are an ex Marine Commando! WTF I was furious! That information was given to a civillian nurse in a medical examination in confidence. My MoD file still remains confidential, but that is not the point! Nothing you can say in confidence anymore and I urge you people in the UK to print off this letter http://www.nhsconfidentiality.org/optoutletter to your GP and every hospital you visit! /MOTD do not give them your blood or DNA

The Register reports "Undead deleted photos linger on social networking websites" http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/05/21/zombie_photos It appears that what you did last summer is being blamed on photo's being cached elsewhere says a spokesman for Facebook. (Obviously did not want to reveal his name or Facebook profile which is not very socialable of him and is just not cricket)
He also goes on to say that photos may continue to exist on the Content Delivery Network (CDN) even after being deleted.
It truly beggars belief, but what is more disturbing, especially for those people who do not want to have a social networking site profile and a friend that does, uploads your photo and details as a friend of theirs without your permission.
The question is how do you chmod your pictures?
