It'll probably be a command line tool or library that nobody will use in its pure form; instead, they'll use a GUI frontend with a completely different name. I expect it'll eventually be built into Pidgin and other chat programs.
Of course, I didn't read the article so it's all a mystery! I love surprises.

And other "services" do not ? Look at skype for example you have to connect to other nodes to open a call it is not a direct connection. Who is to say that some rogue node is in between ? SIP can be 2 way and not multi node.
With GNU Free Call everything is open sourced. It would be a whole hell of a lot easier to find out and eventually block bad nodes, MitM, etc. Also not to mention some people who like to use OSS and operating systems will finally have a decent service/client to use on multiple platforms with other people if this takes off. Unlike the oh so "free" _less than better_ stuff we have now.

The letter states and points out such concerns as 'Community Objections', 'Lack of Transparency' , and 'Malicious Conduct' the reasons of concern from the RIAA.

Wow just wow . How about adapting and embracing new technology instead of moving a step backwards ? This confirms still, how old fashioned some in the entertainment industry think. E.g. why not offer a 'live' showing per stream in HD ? If it is a good show and not some _crap_ then why are they so afraid of twitter, youtube, etc etc. Actually if enough people talk positive about it isn't that a bonus for the show? There are many possibilities how to adapt to new models but instead of thinking about the positives of using new models, these types concentrate on the new negatives.
So now live viewers will most likely have tight security before entering the viewing. Leave all electronic devices with security pick up after show etc (same old story). Because some decision makers can't think outside the box.

wow! intel is really keeping up with whats What hot and new , intel open source Now sounds like intel really wants to please OSS users like on Arrandale when they pull these kinds of stunts, TFA:
Intel decided not to send out any Sandy Bridge CPU samples to us, so we are unable to deliver test results, but all I got were frustrated journalists asking me how to get the Sandy Bridge graphics working under Linux.
Arrandale is also a complete mess on some platforms like fedora for e.g.Currently now running gentoo with xorg 1.9. and kernel 2.6.37.7 and feeling lucky that most things are now working on an Arrandale platform.
